Speeding Problems Take care of me!!
Re: Speeding Problems Take care of me!!
Actually Sidez, the argument people have for using seatbelts, is one of ......if you get killed in a car crash, insurance companies have to pay your family, someone else's family, etc. etc. etc. Seat belts DO save lives, I always wear mine.......but I agree, It should be a personal choice.
After all........it's a proven fact that being overweight is detrimental to your health, causing doctor visits, which leads to medical insurance claims.....I challenge all the people who use the seatbelt/insurance argument.....step on a scale.......Are you costing us money in healthcare insurance?

Re: Speeding Problems Take care of me!!
I will not pass judgment as I don't want to be judged.
My reasoning for the previous post, I'm tainted, I ran a survey in front of my daughters school last year.
I found in a 20mph zone that 78% of the cars were speeding, Mail carriers on 3 passes were in the 35+mph. A school bus was clocked at 41mph and every after-school program/Day Care van was going over 20mph. I know the circumstances with you are different and I will leave this up to others.
The comment of racing in a school zone is from another forum and it's a joke about street racers, any time, any place and any road.

No worse than doin 95 to 100 on the freeway !
Sounds to me like the guy was on a deserted 4 lane road in the hills. There are alot of those in the Texas Hill Country and yes there are those of us that test the limits of a 25 mph downhill curve.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning Sidez actions but, you play the game and sometimes you get BUSTED !!!

Get a lawyer that deals with traffic violations. There are a couple dozen that you can find in your yellow pages, or just call the local bar association for a reference. They're cheap, you won't have to show up for the court appearance (they'll appear for you and enter a plea/attempt to negotiate), and you will end up with something involving less points than you otherwise would receive. If it's in the same jurisdiction they may even be able to take car of the other ticket as part of the same deal.

HK I don't know about your study, but it does seam VERY accurate to me.. there is another 25 mph road just outside my house, and I would be VERY surprised if someone would be pulled over there unless they were doing over 45Mph as it is another one of those ridicolously limited roads although a speed of at least 35mph would be equally as safe..

LIVE FREE OR DIE! Yes, I live in New Hampshire. No seatbelt laws, no mandatory insurance, and no helmet laws.
Some places still believe that it should be up to the people whether or not they want to protect themselves.
Now, that being said, I do wear a seatbelt most of the time, because I feel more secure. Also, I never, ever ride motorcycles without a helmet because for one, I feel naked and vulnerable without one. When I put a helmet on, I feel like I'm in my own world, completely aware, confident, and a bit safer. I hear the sounds of my bike better as well as my surroundings due to the lack of wind noise.
As for insurance, not sure I agree with that one. I think it should be mandatory to have at least liability. I have to pay a whole bunch more to protect my self against uninsured motorists.
I was thinking the same thing about XFIRE FRANK. It sounds to me as if he is related in some way to the DW guy. He seemed a bit overly reactive to this post.

So I guess you pick in choose the laws you follow as well and if not that speaks volumes about you as well.. but I am beggining to think you are just trolling...
if you have done any of the following you are a criminal just like 99.9% of the United States (HK posted a good statistic).. and you should be prosecuted in court of law I hope you loose you license, have you legs removed, and are impriosened for 20 years, because it appears you need some serious rehabilitation
Remmber this laws are made by people.. people are imperfect therefor laws are imperfect.. if tomorrow the congress passed an amendment eliminating the bill of rights would you sit there shrug and say well a law is a law therefor I have no choice but to follow..
Anyways I am done wasting my time with you... your posts speak volumes about who you are as well.. and I guess one of us is a human and the other pretends not to be.. my last question is are you a charcter for soylent green or a character from.. forgot the movie the futuristic movie where the firefighters burn the books well you prolly know what I am talking about..
PS. to all those it may concern, if I came off as some road raging manic speeder that is not such, if i made you feel bad because you had someone close to you be harmed in a motoring accident it was not in my intetion as I myself have had a close friend of mine die in automobile catastrophe where he was killed due to completly unforseen circumstances and then the doer of this harm escaped and was never found..

Re: Speeding Problems Take care of me!!
I've got your back Sidez.
Speed limits are not about public safety, they are about taxation. Every year cars get safer. Every year accidents and road fatalities grow. Is it because of speed? No. It's because we don't teach people to pay attention and how to drive. How is it that the German autobahn has fewer accidents per vehicle traveling on it than any other road in western civilization, and also has NO speed limit?
The national highway safety administration conducted a survey of state accident records and determined that higher speed limits actually elicited fewer accidents. The state governments did not raise the speed limits because they get too much revenue from ticketing speeders. Raising the speed limit would mean they would lose major amounts of revenue. The fine/fee involved with speeding is specifically designed to not be high enough to make it worth fighting. After all, if you take time off work to attend two or three court hearings and pay a lawyer for thier time, you will easily exceed the cost of the ticket.
As for the guy talking about his kids being in danger of traffic, I have to say that you might want to teach your children not to play in the street. I grew up on a street with a lot of traffic. I still live there. People always speed down my street, and most hardly stop for the stop signs. Yet, in the 30 some years that I've lived here, there has never been an accident on my street, let alone a child injured by a vehicle.
Speed limits are a classic example of the dumbing down of our society. We are constantly held back and reduced to the lowest common denominator. Rather than teaching people to pay attention, we slow them down more. Cause them to be in their vehicles longer, which just makes them want to make use of that time for other things, like phone calls, emails, make-up, shaving, reading (yes, I passed a man reading the newspaper while driving on I-80 at 70 mph).

thanks for the stimulating peice tom I had a pleasure reading your post..
Re: Speeding Problems Take care of me!!
I would delay it as much a possible.. then take it to court.
Here in cali you have about 3 months to respond to a ticket, then you go online and get a 60 day extension, then at the end of the 60 days you sign up for an arraignment date (usually 30 days later), then plead not guilty, wait another 30-60 days for the actual court date.
By this time your damn near 8 months away since you go the ticket, and when you show up in court 99% of the time the cop doesnt even come. Sometimes they do come but declare "No Recall", meaning hes present in court and gets overtime for it, but doesn't remember giving you the ticket, so you're free either way.
Worst case scenario is the cop does come, and you can ask for traffic court before your case is even heard..

For DH's like you Mr. F - who only spew venum on this forum - to claim Sidez was bragging when in fact he was looking for advice and some clarity for his path is an infraction that could happen to any number of drivers a day on that road is - well - weak on your part.
Sidez wasn't in school zone, at 3AM careening into a bus stop full of kids at 90 MPH during a street race. I travel a similar street and the police will just give you "the look" as if to say slow down on this hill. Heck - the police could right 30 tickets a day on that road. Mostly to Soccer moms with a cell phone glued to their head.
But instead the police use their presence on the side of the road as a reminder, put your car in low gear and take it easy.
Sidez will pay whatever he and the court workout -
Sidez owes you NOTHING.
You owe Sidez and apology.

You write your side of the story, the officer has to submit a written declaration of his side (without reading yours) and the judge reads them both and makes a decision. If the officer does not respond in 30 days of his being served noticed.. Case Dismissed - most officers are to busy to remember and write another report at the end of their day.
In Ca if you are found guilty - you still have 20 days to request a trial by judge, yet another opportunity for a no-show by the officer or for you to plead to a lesser charge and request school and reduced points.
Work the system - that's what it's there for. And good luck.
Re: Speeding Problems Take care of me!!
You know why auto accidents are on the rise? THOSE DARN CELL PHONES!! People going around with one hand (or none) on the wheel and the other texting OMG, TTUL, etc, etc, !!
I agree with Tom about the dumbing. We don't need to keep prescribing Zanex, Valium, and other drugs to people who are depressed because they don't like their jobs. We don't need to diagnose every kid that is a little hyper to have ADD, ADHD, or some other acronym and shove some pills down their throats to cure what supposedly ales them. People need to suck it up, pay attention to their families instead of using the DVD player as a baby sitter, unplug the XBOXes and go outside with a ball or bicycle, and quit trying to blame society and everyone else for their problems.
SIDEZ, can you believe the controversy this thread created? All of this over a funny little drunken post that clearly showed you were feeling bad for doing something ridiculous.

Re: Speeding Problems Take care of me!!
For what it's worth sidez don't listen to those who pretend they know or think you've done wrong. Going 60 in a 25... Right or Wrong? after all that's what this controversy is about right?... how wrong is the law, or how wrong is Sidez for breaking it.
Well some laws are s.h.i.t. . And the people that stand behind the s.h.i.t laws are full of s.h.i.t.
We can compile a list of laws that are there to help the society and protect our freedoms and us from eachother, and also compile a list of s.h.i.t. laws.
As we all know speed limits and laws that support them are part of the s.h.i.t. list and why is that? well think about how each county, state, country has a different perspective over the speed limits, in Germany they don't even have limits on some freeways you ever wonder why? Well you don't have to wonder because you will stand behind your s.h.i.t. law of 25mph regardles of reason for issue and that is because you are easily manipulated and don't know any better due to the lowest level of education provided to you, and you call yourself free and you think you know how to spell, you also wear your seatbelt and think that if you passed driver's ed and have a valid driver license you can drive. If you are insulted by this it really means you don't know that much about the world outside the USA. As sidez said, "it's not better somewhere else" but that doesn't mean there's only us in this world and just a reminder BUSH/Government are not GOD!
