Maybe I am wrong, but in the old country we don't have speedometers..
Your response speaks for itself.

Don't worry about it dude. I don't condone speeding and I think it's dangerous; however, it seems like people are making asumptions without knowing the road you are speaking of. I've seen plenty of roads that look as if they should have a 50mph speed limit, but have a 25 or 30 posted limit. I've been caught off guard many times. I'm sure you wouldn't have been speeding if you were surrounded by houses with that plastic kiddie crap on the lawn, crosswalks, and play grounds. I'm sure you have enough to worry about without being ridiculed by the holier than thou internet forum gurus. I think you've learned your lesson.

Good luck with the courts!

And to those who talk about the circumstances being funny or not: I don't think anyone was commenting on the act of speeding being funny. What was funny was his drunken babble of a post! YES, THAT WAS FUNNY INDEED!!

It's incredibly humorous reading all the posts here from people trying to justify why this person was going over twice the posted speed limit...everything from the lanes... to the steepness of the grade...to the time of day...to the lack of traffic...etc, etc, etc...some of you still don't get it and I'm afraid you never will...

Yes - and those who pass judgment in a country where you are presumed innocent until proven guilty when you don't even know the circumstances.

I live on hillside and its very easy (especially in my truck) to speed down the 20MPH road - very easy...

Perhaps your prune juice has passed its expiration date....

I was on the way home late one night after working for 18 hours. The state trooper pulled me over about a mile from my house and asked "Is there reason why you were going 65 mph in a 25 MPH zone?"

(It was in an industrial area where the place is literally dead at night and I was the only car around - except for the trooper of course).

I told him I had absolutely no good excuse. I was tired, it was late and I lived right around the corner. He asked when the last time I had gotten a ticket and I truthfully said "never". He says "just do me a favor and keep it down the rest of the way home...

phewwwwww.....

The funny thing is, I usually drive as close to 25 as possible because the commuters use our street during the day and I love slowing them down...

I think of 25mph being in a neighborhood and those speeds in a controlled area like that is just as stupid as a driver can get.

This is how kids get killed.

30 over on the freeway, yeah, I have done it and been caught but never in like that in 25 zone. To post it is unreal, this is one of those times you should have not posted. Do you race in a school zone as well?

I don't need to imagine it.....my street is a posted 25 neighborhood road....unfortunately it cuts between 2 major thoroughfares. I see more kids who just got their licenses flying down my street with the radio blasting and a cell phone in their hands, or business suits cutting through to avoid traffic so they can get home 2 minutes faster. Imagine......ha......I LIVE it!

Wow...I think I even met you at Woodward last year. If you don't live in a glass house, by all means cast the first stone. That stone means that: 1) from the perspective of a post; YOU know ALL the facts; 2) have NEVER gone 60 in a 25 (because if you had and been caught this would all be moot and 3) we all believe government is correct in the speed limits THEY set and 4) that government is correct.

Consequently, 1) I work for the government and I acknowledge it is incredibly terrible at performing most functions for which it has been assigned 2) speed limits is one of the TERRIBLE jobs it has been assigned and finally 3) I routinely disobey absurd speed limits knowing that if caught result in costs.

I’m sorry but 60 in a 25 sounds bad - but doesn’t mean bad.

Take your lumps, pay the ticket, and chalk it up as a learning experience.

"I routinely disobey absurd speed limits"? ...That really says it all.

I believe you're thinking about CrossfireFrank!

Just by the recent tone of this thread......I'm beginning to wonder if someone's a friend of DW Duke?
You know....condescending, uninformative comments and all!

Xfirefrank yes everything means all to you and everything speaks volume about us...

Hk Phoey.. I never intended to post this thread, but yesterday after having some drinking mourning about my loss.. I posted out of a drunk nature.. As for do I race in school zones? is this even a serious question? it was around 12" and its not a typical crossing area, sure I could of killed a kid there and you can also kill a kid doing speed limit on the freeway...

Mr F. the people in my county never stood in line for toilet paper, but did for food in the 50s, I don't know why you would bring this up as I was not alive at that time...

As for the seatbelts and windsheild wipers, I guess you have been reading my posts.. the speedometer thing was a joke, But again I feel you are more than a little judgemental.. As I have discussed windsheild wipers can be replaced with a liquid called rainx you can read plenty about it online, but not only that I also don't drive in the snow AT ALL, and am very rarely caught by a surprise rain and in each of those times I never missed the wipers.. As for the seatbelts will.. what do you think would the founding father aprove of such a law? Unless you are naive enough to think that government acctually cares about your well being than "THAT speaks Volumes about you" the law was passed to make profit like most others, I don't see how me not buckling up detracts from anyone's "life, liberty, or pursuit of happiness" other than that of my own.. and in a free country at least so I was told I can freely choose to do whatever I choose with my own health and body if I want get fat by all rights I can, If I want to starve myself I can, and I would like to put add a risk in my life by getting comfort of not wearing a seatbelt.. I have not done it for years in Russia and still do not do it, HOWEVER i have driven a forumla 1 vehicle last summer in closed track in France and felt that it was dangerous enough to give up some comfort and thus I did buckle up...

Whatever I regret posting this, but it is nice to have intresting conversation and get some perspectives of people even if you are detracting and challenging my philosophies I don't mind at all, but I stand by them strongly, but sometimes opening your mouth without knowing specific details can be detrimental or incorrect.. learn this sooner in your life than latter, it will help you
