Introduce my self
Introduce my self
Hey all. My name is Kevin. I知 in the air force. My buddies call sgt d. currently I own a 2005 Dodge Neon SRT4. The car is pretty quick. I have a bunch of mods. But I知 really getting tired of the whole FWD thing. So I was looking for something new and different. I am a diehard Chrysler Corp guy. I have owned nothing but Dodges and Jeeps. I saw a video online of a srt6 raping a STI. I knew the srt6 was fast but always thought they didn稚 have much modding potential. After being on your site for the last week. I see I was very very wrong. I am strongly considering(AKA trying to convince the wife)into buying a srt6. The only down fall is theirs no manual. I have only driven manuals since I learned to drive. But so far I heard good things about the tiptronic tranny. I had a few questions. How hard are these to launch. That痴 my biggest problem with the srt4 is getting off the line. The biggest tire it will take up front is a 235. I have solid motor mounts and falken aziens RT-615. I am still having a super hard time launching. How are the fuel systems on these. I see a lot of people on hear upgrading pulleys. Is the srt6 full system pretty stout to hand a small pulley change. Also I had some tire and rim questions but ill search first and see what I come up with before I go asking to many questions and start pissing people off. Thanks for you time guys. I am loving the forum so far. Tons of info. Thanks again.

Thank you for the thank you.
I tried the forgiving thing once. I came home with some nice 18*7 wheels wraped in 235/40/18 tires. Very sweet looking. She really didnt think so for a long time. that was just less then 2 grand. Spending 25-30k. Might be a problem if i come home with a new ride. LOL Thanks though.

You won't be disapointed with the automatic unless you require nothing but a manual, although it is automatic it is a good one.. launching is not that easy as the car has a very lower center of gravity, but you can get it down.. our stock front tires are 225, i have seen people fit 235s as well, but I am sure you can go wider if you really wanted to.. our rears are 255s stock.. I am not sure what you mean by fuel system, but the only person I know that has had an issue with running lean is someone that used 192mm pulleys with upgraded headers.. our stock pulley is 155.. at 192 it is around 24 psi...
coming from an SRT-4 I don't see why you would not be totaly amazed with the crossfire it is a major upgrade...
Re: Introduce my self
Welcome from one military member to another. As for the Autostick, this is the first automatic I've ever owned, and I've owned many cars in my life. The SRT6 is so good, that I didn't care what type of tranny it had. The transmission is made by McLaren, and is well known to be one of the best manumatics around. Not sure about the current models, but previously all AMG cars only came with the Autostick. It is very intelligent and will hold a gear almost exactly like a manual when you use manual mode. It really is brilliant. I really don't miss the manual, especially when I'm putting around in traffic. I would much rather have the SRT with the Autostick than a regular Xfire with a standard.
As for other questions, use the search feature. You can find just about anything you could possibly be wondering. For wheels and tires, there is an entire section devoted to that subject. I've been spending a ton of time there lately!

Get an original window sticker for the SRT that lists it around $48000. Tell her you bought a new car. She will faint when she sees the sticker. Then you can show her that you actually paid half price. She will think you are such a clever shopper she will immediately love the car.
