Default Fun with M3, CLS550, and Charger R/T

While cruising home today I saw an M3 (~2005 model) and a CLS550 coming up on me. I then saw an R/T charger (with at least exhaust) coming behind them.

Without getting too detailed, I will say that the M3 and the CLS550 are both nice rides with plenty of power. I didn't play as much as the M3 and CLS550 were, just because the last thing I need right now is a racing ticket.

The R/T charger didn't stand much of a chance against any of us.

I would say that the CLS550 would likely catch me right after a 1/4mile mark, but not sure that it would beat me in the 1/4. Does anyone have any 1/4 specs on these?

The M3 was close as well, but seemed to lose too much from the punch and had too much ground to gain.

It would be tough to say how the race would've gone on the 1/4, but I'd say I would've been neck and neck with the CLS and just barely ahead of the M3, with the R/T charger well behind. The CLS may have been a different story from a stop.

There was an Altima SE-R that pulled up after I exited that seemed like he wanted to play also. He and the R/T probably would've made better running mates.

Just thought I'd share my experiences.

Shawn, I'm envious of your snow and ice free climate. Most of the sports cars here in Oklahoma must still be hibernating. Today was a beautiful day, in the mid 50's. On the way to the golf course I saw a lady driving a contervible C6 vette. On the way to dinner I did see a convertible Ferrari, but he was driving the other way.

My buddy has a CLS550. He won't let me drive it, but I think we are a little bit quicker from 1-100. Beyond that, I think they will catch up.

I ran across an M3 today on a drive to the coast from Portland. Too much traffic to play. But it was a great day to drive and hit the coast. I saw a 350Z Fairlady Saturday. But we were going into town with traffic also. Anyone have any scoop on the Fairlady? He seemed to think he was pretty hot.

Against an SRT6? In a straight line, not even worth comparing...

Off topic, but it's so strange to hear about drives to the coast, turning the AC on, and etc. meanwhile I'm still shoveling snow and battling sub 30 degree weather. Man, I used to hate the heat in AZ and TX, but man, this bone chilling cold, wetness, filthy streets, and the fact that my car has to hibernate like 7 - 8 months of the year is really starting to suck!! I put the car away back in October! There is so much snow and ice piled up that it will be May or June before the streets are clean again!!

Your lucky shawn, all that on one drive. I've had my car for like 5months and the only person that ever tried me was a BMW 645/650. I never see them in my SRT, but when I'm in the Corolla they are all over the place.

I think the weather brought everyone out. I also saw several 911's and some other Porsche I couldn't I.D.

There were nice cars everywhere yesterday...I just happened to have these three pull up on me. It was tough not to get too stupid

On our last hook-up a couple of weeks ago, good friend came
along with a SL550. He had SRT6 prior. He has had many nice
fast cars. He said the SRT6 is still the fastest car he has driven.
We did have some fun at 50mph. We went at it three times.
All three times I took off faster but at about 100, he was gaining.
Now when I said faster, I'm talking 3/4 car length and that's it.
I think he said it was NA 385bhp, but the car weighed 2 tons.
It was a beaty..

They are definitely nice looking cars with cool lines. I had the same experience with quickly putting a car on it and then it would slowly start to reel me in in the triple digit areas.

A great site for 0-60 and 1/4 mile times (doesn't have the CLS, but has lots of others):
