Just drove my first srt-6, I am surprised.

Unless you're the kind of person that does care what people think of your car. In that case, if you're still young, I'd suggest changing your ways...and maybe your car...

Just put 150 miles on my car today and intentionally 'got on it' just to make sure I wasn't lying in this post.
It definitely lays me into the seat, and 'feels' fast.
The big difference between this and other fast cars (from my experience) is that fact that once you are going fast, it seems quite civil.
I also noticed that at highway speeds, the engine is quiet. Kick it down on gear and it roars a little more. Wind up the S/C, and it starts to scream.
My car is all stock, btw.

- The interior felt as cheap as the reviews I've read indicated, particularly the center controls. Normally I think the car mags are a bit **** about things like this but this was a $50k car at one point.
- This car is civilized. Don't push it and its as mild as my grocery getter. Push it and its actually more mild than my grocery getter.
That may be the problem. I only punched it 3 times in short intervals and while the needle on the speedometer moved quickly I just didn't get sucked back into my seat like I expected to. It was also very quiet. IS THAT NORMAL? I know these cars use a lot of MB components but I was expecting there to be more of a sensation. If I was alone on a runway with nothing around (think top gear) I would have no idea what speed I was doing based on physical feedback or exhaust note.
Am I being to quick to judge? This is just my initial opinion but I just didn't feel the power I expected to FEEL. Could this one have been having problems?

Oh, and as for the post above this one, where is the 350Z connection? Just curious. He hasn't mentioned anything about that car unless I've missed something.

You seemed reasonable to me...others did not. Lot's of inferiority complexes in here...the forum needs a site shrink.
Perhaps it was a "poser" SRT6, a regular crossfire dressed up like one. It doesn't take much to make a fake appearing SRT6.

Whiptastic,
I suggest that you may have triggered the traction control when you dropped the hammer the last time. The 'lag' you were experiencing was most likely the ESP and traction control reducing your engine power so you wouldn't spin the tires excessively.
If you want to really FEEL the pick up of this vehicle... be on the freeway at about 60 and punch it and HOLD it until you are hitting 90mph. When you let off the pedal you will feel the seat push you back out.
If you still feel it's not as responsive as it should be or has a seeming 'lag' to it after the throttle reset, I'd suggest finding another one to test drive as the one you tried probably has a bad IC Pump.
The torque on these cars is simply amazing. Not to mention having the same slalom times as an SLR.

Re: Just drove my first srt-6, I am surprised.
Funny story - a coworker of mine bought his SRT at the same time I did, in July of '07.
He took a ride in my car for the first time last week, and mentioned something about "You really know how to make this thing scream!". I told him all I did was move the shifter over and smash the throttle! He said it seemed a lot faster than his and really snapped his neck back.
That got me thinking, and I asked him about high speed acceleration. He said his car wouldn't hit 90 from a 60mph punch nearly as fast as mine did. I immediately thought his I/C pump was gone.
Well, he just got it back from the dealer after having the I/C pump replaced. Needless to say, he is ALL grins as he is just FINALLY experiencing a 'good-running' SRT after owning it for over 7 months! He said, "This car is a whole new beast now - I feel like I just bought a new car with twice the engine!"
The sad thing is that he thought the car was normal the whole time...until he rode in one that WAS normal. He soon realized his car wasn't running up to par.
