Now chill out everyone!!! I don't putt around town in my crossfire! But i also don't redline it! Remember this is a production car, not a formula 1 or nascar vehicle! These cars are made to be driven hard at times, but not EVERY TIME!!!! I'm not saying your going to kill it if you redline it here and there, but those who do drive like that will shorten their engine life and tranny's life!!!
Now with that said, does Chrysler still make the pacifica??? I'm thinking of trading in my srt6 for 1!!!!

??? I'm thinking of trading in my srt6 for 1!!!! It does not hurt to redline a car, especially a car meant for performance. (off topic but why do you use huge colored fonts like a girl?) I have redlined my current car for 74,000 miles and I am making over 2x the stock horsepower in it and the car still runs like new. The redline aka rev limiter is there to limit the revs aka revolutions that the motor is allowed to SAFELY turn. If it was not safe to rev to the current rev limit then they would have set it at a lower rpm. Heck you can get an ECU reflash and INCREASE the rev limit on cars with no issues. Manufacturers tend to be very conservative. It is evident that you do not have much knowledge in tuning cars or performance cars in general. Sure if you sit in your driveway, floor the gas while it is in park and rev the car up to the redline and hold it there for about 20 minutes it would not do wonders for your car but when your out on the road actually driving it does not hurt a thing. Like I said, I have done it for 4 years on my current car with zero effects. I did it on my old 1970 454ci corvette with over 600whp with zero effects and on all my other cars. Your statement it ignorant and silly.

Yep, totally safe to redline your car!!

Lol!!
Just kidding, not sure what happened with the 'vette, but I mostly agree with mrphotoman. I'm sure hammering on an engine like that everyday will lower the longevity of any engine, but once in a while is fine on a modern vehicle with the protective electronics in place. Plus, when using the autostick in our cars, it will hold the car in gear right up to the very edge of being in the red before it shifts. It never really hits the redline, barely.

Ma'am it is evident that you have no interest in learning about cars or how they work. There is no need to continue arguing with someone that has zero knowledge about how a car, especially a performance car works. I have been racing my car (not a srt6) for 4 years now with zero engine issues and making more than 2x the stock hp. Since you evidently never take your car over 35mph and 2500rpms why did you bother with a performance car? Why not get a 1980 Yugo or something?
I will check in later when you get back from having your nails done and the beauty salon to see if you posted another cute'sie post with your pretty colored font.

Speaking of Pinks, saw a great show the other night, where this VW beetle
was kicking some serious ***, until he broke an axel on the last race and
slammed front first into the otherside retaining wall. What a spectacular
crash, at over 100mph. Thankfully, the driver was able to walk away with
no apparent injury.

Anyone that thinks you can not drive a sports car for its intended purpose (sports driving) is ignorant. Do you HAVE to drive it hard? Of course not. Can you drive it hard? Sure you can. Of course if you treat your car poorly it will break but if you drive it hard and perform routine mantinence on it you will have no problems.
You are just a silly little boy (or little girl) that is just trolling a forum when mommy and daddy are not watching. Have your fun honey, before long your parents will catch you and ground you from the internet.

Re: all srt6'ers
Can't we just abuse the ricers with their fart-can exhausts rather than fellow SRT6 owners?
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm impressed with an SRT6 doing 186mph. I thought 150 in my A6 was pretty good. I've only had my roadster to 140 once.
I suspect the manufacturers put a limit on them to save us from ourselves. And themselves from liability. Not that there is a huge difference in 158 v 186 if you lose it. But the risks magnify dramatically after 120....frost heaves in the pavement, pot holes, a rim with a little defect, even the speed rating and tread on the tire. I suspect blowing the engine is the least of their concerns although tossing a rod could cause some interesting effects at that speed.
I would suspect that as long as the engine is not running over the redline at the top end, an occasional very high speed run should not hurt it. After all, at it's heart it's a Mercedes engine made for extended autobahn speeds and then AMG works on it a little. An engine built to run at 120-150 mph for extended periods of time should be able to take higher speeds as long as it's not over-reved.
(And, yes, I've driven on the autobahn several times. It's not as cool as you think. Most of the high speed sections are two lane highway, narrow and not in the best of shape. And there's a lot of trucks. But I was able to get a BMW diesel rental to 125 for a while and drove back from east to west Germany at 100+ mph one night for a couple hours.)

When you are smokin' along at 170MPH; life gets real BIG, your sense's get real SHARP, your eyes and mind FOCUS, you hear the engine sing to you like you've never heard it before.
I need to find a longer road - and some spotters - these cars a built to handle it, maybe not 24-7-365 but enough to make you say OH-YEA!
Loosen up a little and live...but then again maybe a Pacifca is the perfect car for you...Heck - they stole our hood design...along with every other Chrysler car & SUV...can't wait to see our hood on the Mini-Van....
