Has anyone used the 'dummy' button for accessories?
Has anyone used the 'dummy' button for accessories?
Steve, ya out there?!?!
The dummy button our cars have due to the lack of the automated spoiler would make a great place for auxiliary I/C fan switch, remote TC/ESP disabling, etc.
Has anyone tried to use this switch for anything? Any luck?
I know Steve did a 'remote' Fuse removal to mimmick the removal of the ESP/TC fuses...sure would be nice to just wire this dummy switch and have a second Traction Control button - one would be 'partial' and one would be 'completely off'.
Thought i'd ask..

AMEN!!! That blank button has been irritating me since day one. I HATE Blank plugs in cars where switches and buttons SHOULD BE! I always feel like I'm missing something, and I want ALL the toys.
A TCS Disable switch would be cool, but anything would be better than nothing.

Re: Has anyone used the 'dummy' button for accessories?
I'm a little surprised no one has done this yet...
I wonder how difficult it is to remove the switch, or to make it 'active'. I would assume it is a simple process IF you can buy the switches individually.
If I wasn't forced to be frugal right now, I would look into it. For the time being, I'll just add it to the list of things to do when I can afford it!

Yeah Shawn, I started looking into using that button for disableing the ESP/TC and then again when I added the two fans to my aftercooler/HE. I even looked into using one of the homelink buttons. The main two things that kept me from doing it was the way these car's are wired, most funtions of buttons/switches makes & breaks a ground not like most cars I've played wth in the past were they make & break a hot. The other thing was the configuration of those particular rocker switches, I thought they may not just be a SPDT, SPST or whatever. They may be a simple switch that operate's relay's or module's, but I think they are a little more complex than that, but I can't say for sure. The TOW switch would have been the one I would have checked out first and if it was a simple switch, ordered one and used it where the dummy is located. I know the homelink buttons make a ground to operate and so does the buttons that the doors use to turn on the dome lights. And to get off the subject just a little, the headlight switch & fuse box is all in one, not a one of the fuse's are hot till you turn the key on and then only two fuse's are hot, the rest of them all operate form the head light switch. I know I don't get out much , but this car is the first car I've ever seen that the brake lights don't work without the key turned on.

Re: Has anyone used the 'dummy' button for accessories?
After thinking a minute or so after my reply, the window switches would be a good switch to use in place of the dummy switch if they mount the same, I'm pretty sure it would be s simple two function non latching switch. You would still have to use a control relay to perform a function, you could use the up position to turn on the relay (of course you would have to wire the relay to latch itself), then use the down to unlatch the relay. When I was thinking of using the dummy button hole I was also wanting to use the OEM wiring that runs out to the fuse box under the hood and was worried about screwing something up, BTW did I mention how weird the wiring is on these car's . And the remote control's are a lot more fun, the wife came out to the garage to get me to come in. She was just inside the door in front of the covered SRT6 and I was around the corner in my work bench area, the remote for the fans was sitting on the bench so I couldn't resist HA, those fans are louder than the radiator fan.

I thought that was a standard feature on the SRT-6's. No one else's has that?

Your car was probably used as an import/export chase vehicle - rare option!
