Default Holy $&^%

i got my resonator taken off yesterday for $80, the guy cut off the resonator and did a "Y" pipe with i think steel piping then spray painted it black to make it blend in with the bottom of the car...and when i drive now at some times maybe 20% of driving there is rattling comingfrom there, is that normal?

I believe the resonator has a bracket that it mounts into I assume they just put the y in with out creating a tab and welding a piece of angle to secure the length of pipe chances are its rattling because its just suspended. Here are some great pictures hope this helps. I assume they only when Y to straight pipe not the two 45 curves? Looking back at the pics this is just suspended as well. I think a bracket would solve the problem I guess we would need pictures to really understand.

Here's a pic of where the OEM bracket was and is in the same place now except just supporting the exhaust. The bracket is in the top left corner of the pic, I had mine done in all stainless.

I just copied this from the original post:

The guy at the exhaust shop used a 304 SS magnaflow "Y" pipe, and he just happened to have a 4 or 5 foot piece of very heavy SS pipe left over from doing a '67 Mustang show car. I think he said he charged that guy something like $1,800 to do his car in this SS pipe from the headers all the way back. The SS pipe was so thick he could not do much of a bend in it or it would kink. It took him about two hours to do the job & charged me $140, not to bad for what I got. It would have looked a little nicer if he would have tigged rather than migged, someone on the board here has a set up that was all tigged stainless, it looked a lot better than mine

Yours looks alot better than mine, but it was done with no pre-fab parts. The welder fabricated everything on mine from scratch. I'm very happy with what I got for $80. Besides, I don't plan on jacking up the car to show many people. The sounds are enough.
