Dumb? - CROSSFIRE letters
Dumb? - CROSSFIRE letters
I started both my Crossfires yesterday just to run the engines a little. For the first time, comparing them side to side, I noticed that the "new" coupe is missing the CROSSFIRE letters under the Chrysler badge. I'm assuming the idiot who owned the car before me took them off. Is that a good assumption?
Any idea how much the letters would cost from the dealer or if there is an alternate source? I want to return this thing to stock.
This is the second problem I found on my great used car deal. After delivery, I went to fill the windshield washer reservoir and the fluid just ran out. Seems the dealer neglected to change out the summer fluid and left it outside in -0o weather. Does anyone know how tough it is to replace this - is it DIY or dealer?

For some strange reason this system is designed so that if you overfill the windshield washer fluid reservoir the excess fluid will come out below the car. You will never see the "neck" fill up where you put in the fluid.
Does your sprayer still work? If so, and there is fluid coming out, don't panic about the reservoir being broken. They all spill over and leak out the bottom of the car when overfilled.

Tell you what... I will gladly sacrifice my own baby's precious lettering for your cause. You need only devise a means to apply them, as the adhesive will surely be DESTROYED in the process.
Let me know if you are in need of such a dire sacrifice.
Re: Dumb? - CROSSFIRE letters
Guys, that's very helpful information. I was watching down the filler neck when it started to "pour out the bottom". I can see the fluid at the neck in my A6, so I assumed they worked the same. I have read back a few pages in the forum but mostly I see performance mods or custom add-ons (getting pretty damn sick about discussions about lighted wind deflectors). Basic DIY or maintenance tips are lacking on this forum. Maybe it's me, but I cannot find a "search" option.
My dealer has been pretty good working on my Roadster, though he's been limited to oil changes ($15 when I provide the Mobil1), the fan recall, and two trips to fix a loose bracket in the driver door that was rattling. No dissatisfaction at this point. The SRT6 will go to them in a couple months to get the driver door repaired/repainted and I'll probably have them re-apply the letters.

Opticon, your offer is appreciated. I sent to you a private message including my email. Don't sacrifice them on my account, but only if you like the debadged look. For some crazy reason, I like all the stock lettering.
It wasn't a Chrysler dealer who mistreated her. It was a lowly Buick dealer in Chicago who bought her at an auction (like a lovely slave girl in the old days), and then found that no one appreciated her, so she languished on his lot for three months until I rescued her. Can't wait to really take her for a ride this spring.

Re: Dumb? - CROSSFIRE letters
Goldwing, the letters probably come in a stencil form, so it should be simple to apply them to your car. Just prep the surface to clean off any old wax so they have a good surface to adhere to.
I see from post #3 that they list for $44.00 for 9 letters. I ordered a stencil from a Nissan dealer last summer for some Maxima letters, 6 letters, twice as big, for $24.00. Go figure.
