Should I lower or not?
Re: Should I lower or not?
I would go for it...but don't cut the stockers so you can go back if needed.
I have been considering this, as well as the clear markers for the outside of my car - aesthetically, the only other things I would consider would be color matching the windshield surround to the car.

Re: Should I lower or not?
I agree with you - the stock setup on this car handles great.
If you're happy with the handling as is, then I wouldn't mess with it - you might not like the results afterwards.
Why spend the $265 for the springs and the time and effort to change them? Unless you really want the look.

Re: Should I lower or not?
I was considering a larger tire in the rear when I wear out the stockers, and possibly hub-centric spacers to flush out the wheels. As far as ride height, I don't think it is TOO bad...but lowering doesn't hurt the looks.
How does yours handle afterwards, BB?

Re: Should I lower or not?
Lowering the SRT does indeed affect the handling. I honestly think that lowering the car has adverse affects in this particular setup. I talked to Brandon at Code3Performance and he had a really good idea that he turned into a product (unfortunately not for the R170 chassis).
From the factory the sway bars are on the same horizontal plane as the chassis (or unibody in our case). When you lower the car the sway bars are no longer parallel with the chassis. This situation greatly reduces the effectiveness of the sway bars. Brandon fabbed up some adjustable sway bar links for the W203 chassis which had an entirely different mounting method. Ours have a stamped steel type of bracket not to mention an air conditioning line in the way. With some time spent I'm sure something could be made to alleviate this problem.
I don't track the car, it's my daily driver. The ride does firm up quite a bit more (I didn't think that was possible) and you can't deny the much better look when it is lowered.

Re: Should I lower or not?
although not a SRT, i have a rear camber kit on my limited that i had put on after lowering. it helped very little. it did get the alignment within the edge thresh hold of the factory specs... barely. my front wheels are right outside the specs, but i opted not to get the front camber kit. it has been about a year and i show no abnormal tire or uneven tire wear. no regrets on lowering.
lowering a SRT? that's just mean... in the best way.

Re: Should I lower or not?
Thanks for all the suggestions and opinions. I'm really thinking about it because I would like to mount some aftermarket wheels like the Petrol Octanes. One of the best looking SRTs I've seen has the Eibachs and the Petrol wheels. The offsets are perfect and the car looks great. If I keep the stock wheels, I may not lower it, but then again, why not? I would def. keep the stock springs just in case.
Re: Should I lower or not?
I lowered my '04 and noticed it bottomed out easier but at the time i didn't know it was because of the shock bumpers ! You must trim them if you lower the car! as for tire wear I still got about 20k miles+ before changing.
My new srt6 I'm waiting for my koni shocks and will install my '04 springs on it but will cut about 3/4 of a coil off to lower it about 1 inch! I have already done this on the rear and I only noticed ride difference slightly smoother I can't wait for the konis!

Much better once I trimmed the bump stops in the rear shocks.
My front camber doesn't look bad at all. The rears you can obviously see the camber and I would like to find a way to correct this, but as of yet I don't notice any extra tire wear. Besides - don't the road course racers prefer a little extra camber?
