If I go for it, here are my plans:

Dark gray 2005 srt6 (not sure what that paint color is officially called lol)
Lower it 1 or 1.5"
Tint windows 20%
17" gunmental staggered wheels (better performance, not into big pimp wheels) with hankook rs2 tires for road course racing
17" or 16"(if they fit) drag radials
Paint the "gills" and grille gunmetal
Tint headlights slightly to look gunmetal (like current car)
185mm pulley
ECU tune
Intake
Custom icebox (like current car)
Custom front mount heat exchanger (like current car)

Calvert, That car looks nice! The wheels actually fit...as opposed to most people's aftermarket wheels who tuck WAY too far under the car (improper offsets).

Photoman,

Sounds like you've got it figured out! There is a company that makes an 'eyebrow' type of piece for our headlights that I feel looks pretty good. I would also consider painting the silver windshield surround to Graphite Metallic (the dark grey). It would complete the monotone color.

Gotta love the Graphite!

Yeah that dark gray is my favorite color on a car now.

Well, that dealer would absolutely not go below $23k. Would have done it for $21k out the door, but oh well!

WCalvert,

Just noticed you are in TX. There is a cheap one in DFW area on Ebay...but higher miles.

How many miles were on that car you looked at?

How many miles are on that car? I bought mine with 11k for 24,995! I'd say with those wheels and in that condition 23k is a steal!! Those wheels probably cost about 4-5 grand easy!

10,200...

I checked out what the wheels are worth used and it's about $3k and new about $5k.

They rub ever so slightly in the front when fully turned. The cupholder was broken off (ha) and it was missing the lower right front grill.

Here's the story of the car: Bought in October 2004. Guy drives it in Florida until he moves to the Woodlands (nice suburn in NW Houston) in 2006. Brings car in to dealer in early 2006 with 6500 miles, orders a new remote keyfob at this time and has the radiator fan replaced under warranty. He brings it in for service at the dealer until this last week on Tuesday on a flatbed at the dealer.

The guy had taken it to a Lambo dealer to trade it in, and the Lambo dealer didn't want it. He called the owner of the Chrysler dealer and they work out some deal and the dealer agrees to buy it for some undisclosed amount.

I'm thinking this dealer bought it for like $17k tops. I'm pretty sure Lambo boy took any amount the dealer wanted to give him. I have his name though, I could look him up....

Also! I'm trading in an 06 Dodge Ram with 17k miles, power everything, 20s, Sirius, etc. and they offered me $12,000. I was like are you serious?!??! KBB trade in is like 16k! Buyout is $12,200 on it. I told my sales guy that if he could finance $19k all said and done I would drive home in the car. He looked realllly excited, had me sign a sheet saying that I would and then came back with a form for a 2006 new coupe. I gave him the WTF face and said I wanted the used SRT. The used car manager came over and said that they best he could do is $12,500 for the truck and $23 even for the SRT. This meant financing almost $24k. I said to call me before you wholesale and gave him my card.

That cheap SRT in Dallas has 35,000 miles and didn't meet reserve at $15,800 with a buy it now at $18k.

Dealer in San Antonio has an SRT with 15k miles, they are going to give me a call back tomorrow morning.

Calvert,

What dealer in S.A.?

Let me know and I would be glad to give it a once-over for ya as I live just outside and work IN S.A. I spent a few years in a body shop and can usually nit-pick the lot cars to death.

Geez, that's pretty bad that a Lambo dealer would pass up a potential sale of a 200k dollar car because they don't want the Xfire. Poor Xfires!

As for your truck, most dealers use NADA for trade in amounts. NADA tends to be much lower than KBB. Also, nobody is really buying big trucks right now. The market is soft for sports cars and trucks. Good luck!

Just ran the NADA for my truck and it's $17,350. That being said, I paid $19,500 new in December of 06 (it had been on the lot for 8 months).

Also, I live in Houston. This is the truck capitol of the world. If there's a truck with a good price, then there's a buyer. I'm not expecting a lot here, just a good deal. That means a fair price for my trade ($15k is fair. I bought it there, and my family has purchased 3 new vehicles there in the last 4 years) and a good deal on the SRT. A lot of y'all think that $23k is a great deal, but they know they aren't moving the Crossfires. They are selling more Vipers than Crossfires in February. Think about that. They are offering $13k off any Crossfire as the start of the negotiation.

If I bought the SRT at 23k, and they give me $15k for the truck, then that means I'm financing $20k+TTL which is about $21,000 which is roughly $420 a month. I'm not going to do more than $400 a month, which mean $20k out the door. If they sell me the SRT for $22k then they are still going to make several thousand dollars, they are just trying to make 5k+

$23K is a great value considering what you get, but I wouldn't call it a great deal.

If I had known what I know now...I would've bought a crossfire with under 10K miles for ~$18-20K instead of $25K for a 'new' one. I didn't think they would fall much more. I will say that I'm glad I got a 'new' one as I know the history, but $5K is $5K.

The concern I would have with this one is the aftermarket wheels - that will bring attention and it may be sold for the $23K before they are willing to drop down into your $20K range.

Then again, they may call you tomorrow and say come get it

Here's the other thing. I work for a chain of community newspapers in northeast Houston and I write an auto column every other week. I get a new car every other Thursday, and I'm supposed to drive it for a week. I normally alternate with this housewife (she does the "common" person style review, they send me stuff that is actually interesting) but she can't do it her week, so I'll get cars three weeks in a row starting Thursday and running through mid March. I think I'll wait for the phone call

Got a call back from the dealer in SA that has the SRT-6. It's gray with 15,900 miles and they have it stickered at $19,500. Why can't this dealer in Houston cooperate?!?

I'm definitely holding my ground. My really local Chrysler dealer is about 90% sure they are going to send over a 2007 Black 6-speed Xfire for me to drive for a week. It has 400 miles and they are selling it as "used". Hopefully they'll be able to get it over to me today

Is $20,000 too much for a srt-6 with 37,000 miles?

Photoman,

There was one for $16.9 and one for 18.9 on ebay for less than that with similar mileage.

There was also one available from TodK on this forum with 6k miles for 20,999 if I remember correctly.

So, I would say 'yes', that is more than I would pay as a smart shopper. HOWEVER, that is still a bargain for this car. I would definitely prefer one with factory warranty so it is cheaper to upgrade to an extended service plan.
