Finished with my prototype intercooler setup
Finished with my prototype intercooler setup
here's a cheesey vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lefNz407oeg
It's ugly as is, but hopefully my friend can build me an all aluminum resivour soon. I took it out after this vid and finally I have boost whenever I hit the gas. No more sluggishness. After a few WOT runs I pulled over and the liquid was luke warm, the hoses still connectected to the radiator were scalding hot. I need to get my friends data logger again and take some readings. Other than the temporary looks, I am satifised and glad to have the fun factor back in my car. Also look forward to experimenting with the dry ice
Also Steve if you see this, I don't believe there is a need to worry about pressure. My system is not pressurized and circulates the fluid just fine.

Re: Finished with my prototype intercooler setup
Nice setup... similar to what I had in mind for mine. Any results yet? (seat of pants is fine, dyno would be absolutely awsome!)
EDIT: Read your 'evaluation' and it sounds VERY promising.
Yes, with temps that low, you won't need to run pressurized, BUT... if your temps ever come up, you may want to have the system pressurized for just such an event.
Great start!

Do you have a special tune or just letting the control box add the fuel? Did you take back any timing? What kind of plugs and did you gap them smaller? Anything you can share on the N20 setup will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I have the IK20's, gapped at 38.
If you decide to move forward, I would order the kit from us @ LET Motorsports. I personally installed my kit and took detailed notes during my installation. There are a few parts that you will need that are not included in any kit on the market. We purchased these parts and they are included with the LET kit...it will save you time and money.

Thanks amg-jerry!
I presume that is installed in your spare tire area? Unfortunately, we don't have one. We only have two small cubbys and one is used for the Tire-Fit, air compressor and jack. The other was originally for the first aid kit over in Europe.
I probably will be putting mine in that first aid kit spot eventually. Won't go NOS, doesn't do me any good on the road courses anyway.
Anyway... SWEET setup!

Re: Finished with my prototype intercooler setup
I fixed the kink in my 3/4 line and sumped the pump intake hose last night. Took a trip to Wal Mart and picked up some dry ice for about $1 per pound. It definitely pulled hard with a few cubes of dry ice droped in the resivour. I will try to get a video and some datalogging done to see how much the IAT's really dropped. I also will be running at the track for the first time March 16. I will be competing in the street tire class at Import Face Off and plan to have a cooler of dry ice to test at the track.
