185mm Pulley Install
Re: 185mm Pulley Install
I can promise you that without more mods and custom tuning, the 3.2 will never get close to 400Whp.
I have been running a 185mm pulley for 6+ months and have delt with most issues as everyone else.
The most my car has ever put down to the wheels was 362whp.
I currently have the most heavily modded SC 3.2 around and Brian came really close to my Dyno Dynamics figures. Good job Brian!!
Bottom numbers were no juice. I think I pulled a 323whp and 338wtrq all motor. It's amazing what a 35 shot will do.
Mods include:
Ported / Polished Heads
Ported / Polished SC
185mm LET Pulley
LET Headers (just added) Not on with above Dyno
Schrick Cams
Custom Renntech Tuning
ZEX Wet Nitrous Kit - 35 Shot
LET Heat Exchanger
Johnson Pump
Canton IC Tank
LET Plug Wires
100 Cell Random Tech Cats
Custom Exhaust
No Secondary Cats
K&N Filters
PTE Thermostat
IK20 Plugs
LET Catch Can
LET Phenolic Spacers (just added)
As most of you know, the C32 weighs more than the SRT and has slower 1/4 numbers. As of now, I have the second fastest C32 to date. I managed to pull off a 12.4x with almost a full tank of gas and serious traction issues in 1st and 2nd.
I will bet that Brian isn't far behind the fastest SRT.
With the 185mm pulley, a larger HE is a must. A modded IC wouldn't hurt either.....we could really use laminova cores.

Re: 185mm Pulley Install
These car will benefit from custom tuning. Each motor is so different that you almost need it.
I'm currently running 14.9 PSI and making 323whp and 338wtrq. The ported heads took some boost away but as of 2 weeks ago, most of my issues have been worked out.
323whp and 338wtrq @ 14.9 PSI is one strong motor.
I'm currently looking for a 192mm pulley for testing before I switch to TT in the next few weeks.

Given that Brian doesn't have a stock dyno, it would be good to see if he can get dyno'd on a Dynapack to compare against my dyno on my car that has SL55 setup, 178mm pullies and SI "dyno/road" tune.

Here is my Dynapak numbers from 11/2006. This was when I was Stage II...178mm pulley, Renntech ECU, Evosport Headers.
What did you pull?
Really hard to see....here is a link http://www.renntechc32.com/dyno/index.html

I did not get a "custom tune" mine was the SI "Box tune" with just a few more dyno tweeks to correct the rich A/F ratio. If I had known I was not running lean with the 185mm pulley - I would have mailed my ECU to LET for the tune and saved a ton of $$ that I spent spinning on the Dyno.
Live and Learn - That's why I share the info - so you - my friends - can save and get the best bang for your $$
Like I said - pony up $75 and I will be glad to go to a local Dyno-Jet (not sure where there is a dyno-Pack in my area) - but unless you think my engine is junk - I don't see how you could feel the larger pulley would reduce your hp??
My only engine mods are:
Resonator removed (yea I used stainless material & proud of it)
MB SL55 Intake - (2 hour install)
LET 185mm Pulley (1 hour Install)
SI Tune
That's it!
** EDIT **
My engine has only 6,700 miles
Si Custom tune was hundreds more then what I paid - that's why I settled for what I did.

Re: 185mm Pulley Install
I guess 400 whp is harder to reach than I thought. I would have expected atleast 400 from all the mods you have installed amg-jerry. I guess it doesnt matter what size pulley you go for right now, none seem to make the 400 mark.Gotta say I was expecting more with all those mods you have. I guess I have to get realistic here.

Not sure now, what other gains they would have been able to pull off even if you opted for that "custom" tune.

All my Dyno Runs were done in 3 hours. The 185mm pulley produces even more IAT temps then the 178mm. Plus it was close to 90 deg in an enclosed shop.
SI is can custom tune - saw them tweaking a BMW when I was there. You just pay the hour.. Mine was a set price...
AMG-Jerry - do you think this would help me? https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ad.php?t=21692

For every 100lbs, deduct 1/10th of a second. That would put me at 12.1 with a full tank of gas.

Zero to 20 MPH needs work on my end to keep the tires from spinning so much.
