I installed the sl55 air boxes right on the ends of the y fitting and they fit great. As soon as i find a tutor to tell me how to post pictures on the forum
i will post all my pictures of the installation. The onlly thing i had to do on the air boxes was make new mounting brackets.I had a problem going thru the opening on the drivers side of the radiator but steve gave me a tip on using two and a half inch id reinforced radiator hose which worked great. If i can answer any other questions on my install let me know. Yes I used the OEM 3.2 air filter boxes, I don't think that the SL55 boxes match up with the engine cover and I wanted to keep the OEM look as much as I could.

Steve the sl55 air boxes are about 11/4" wider than the engine cover.I lined up the inside edge's of the air boxes with the inside edge's of the engine cover. If i find out how to post my pictures on the forum you will get a better idea what they look like installed. Sorry, as you can see i'm not from the computor generation. As my nymv plate says ILLCYA

No issues. Will be taking it off though and replace with Needwings intake.
What are your plans for the SL55 setup? I'd hate to see it go to waste....

I haven't bought the NW intake yet. But even if i have, I'll hold on to my SL55 setup so I can put it back in case I need to bring the car to the shop for engine work under warranty.

Just thought I'd add my $0.02 to the thread, as I've just finished test
driving my SRT-6 after having installed the SL55 intake I got from LET.
Just my opinion, but I'd say I've added a whole lot of torque, and my
acceleration appears to have been positively affected. I can hear the
difference in the sound. Whereas previously when I planted my right
foot to the floor I'd hear the air intake make its whine, now it sounds
like there's a tornado under the hood. I really am impressed with the
apparent (perceived) gain this modification has added. It seems that
with more air, the engine has really come alive.

I would recommend this modification.

Did you install K&N filters at the same time you installed or intake or use the OEM filters that come with the airboxes?

I'm getting close to requiring new filters for my SL55 intake and was considering the K&N's...

Brian, I got K&N's with my SL55 intake. I got it put on today except for the tubes. I didnt have the torx wrench to pull the bumper and get the boxes next to the radiator out of the way. I may take it out, as is, just to see how it feels. I'll finish up the tubes when I put the 181mm pulley in. I hope to get my replacemnt WP pulley by the end of the week. That would give me something to do next week end.

Thanks Mike - I may have to order a set of K&N from LET.

I was able to remove the intake feeds from the radiator support without removing the bumper. Just a little effort but no forcing was needed. BTW the brackets you fabbed up looked great...

I just used the stock filters that came with the air boxes. I may change
them out for K&N's soon, but right now I want to get a good feel for how
different the SL55 intake is from the stock intake. BTW, thanks for your
write up, and for sending out the bracket pieces.

On that last, I've not yet received those in the mail, but I was able to come
to a solution when the pieces you were sending didn't arrive by Saturday's mail. It just so happened that I had a couple of mounting rails
from an old Compaq array I just received from a friend. These rails are
made of stainless steel and had a shallow, squared at the bottom, 'U'
shape. The width between the up-turned blades was just a very small
bit short than the attachment point/platform for the stock clips. So, after
trimming the rail material to about 2.5 inches, I gently hammered it on
to the clip platform (shaving a mere hair from each side as it went on) and
then screwed them in place. I then mouted the clips to the extended
mounting platform and did the same for the back end clip. Repeated
this for the driver side, and all attaches nicely on the clip connector *****
on the motor.

Took it for a test drive, and was posted earlier, was rather impressed with
the result. Thanks again for your write up and help.

MikeR, it is not necessary to remove the bumper to get the intake pass
through boxes removed from the radiator support. If you remove the
top screws (one on either side) for the bumper, near where the boxes
have their screws, you can pull back enough on the top of the bumper to
be able to remove the boxes. Note that the boxes are pinned with push
pins to the radiator support. These pins need to be removed to pull the
boxes out. There is one on the outboard side of each box, that is a bit
of a pain to get to, but it can be done without removing the bumper.

Okay, here are the some pics of the SL55 on my Aero ----->

I have them setting up a little higher from the manifold and it looks like I need to adjust the air tube on the driver side to level out that box.

I dont know if I will keep the cover on or not yet.
