Crossfire Exhaust system upgrade $200.
I removed my muffler (not resonator) and installed a stainless exhaust pipe that TOTALLY fits the size and shape of the SRT-6 rear end. There is no resonance and the radio works fine without getting that BIG DRONE of most exhaust modifcations. I get lots of positive comments and it is NOT loud until I really get on it and it starts to get up on the cam / supercharger and then it is a HIGH $ sounding european sedan sound that is really nice, others words not mine. THe pipe is from Summit racing for a Diesel and is a twin 4" polished stainless setup. I cut and TIGed the pipe as shown in the photos attached if they upload. Click on them for a larger view. Also see my LSD installation for the rear end, Woody.
Seems that I have been educated a bit, the resonator was not removed, the muffler was. THe muffler was full of stuff and I will add a picture below to show the amount of junk inside of it, LOTS of fiber material and baffels. I first tried to open the MUFFLER and gut it but when I replaced it it did not sound any different. There may be a slight increase in power but my G meter was not used to see a difference before I started. The rich sound is nice and not loud inside, at normal highway speeds you have to try and notice an increase. When you firewall it the sound is quite nice, even better than my 6 pack 440 challenger and your hearing would say that it runs stronger. You can not go on the seat of the pants responce feel as it is less accurate. NOW the SPRINT BOOSTER is a real kick in the pants especially when you are on the track autocrossing and that is good for a second or two in a 45 second lap, its well worth it. Woody Photos of interior of muffler to follow below 1/19/2008
PS the pipes are even with the rear bumper from a top view. The curved body makes then look like they protrude a great deal. The sound levels in the car are even normal because the sound pressure waves do not interact with the bodywork and cause resonance, like my Challenger exhaust tips (1973 style) Woody Northern Va area.
I now have the video of a run on the autocross track on You tube so you can hear the car without the muffler, look up Autocrossing my SRT-6 Crossfire in Maryland. 1/24/2008

I am 99.9% sure that you removed the muffler and kept the resonator.
The resonator is the big silver box w/AMG stamped on it. The muffler was at the back w/the tailpipes that is stamped 'Sebring.'
Nice bottle of Beefeater, that's my choice of gin as well.

First off woody, where in Virginia are you located?
Second, I'm VERY confused at the moment. I think there must be some disagreement here on which part is the resonator...
The section that you replaced is refered to as the Rear Muffler in the service manual. The section that everyone else I know of has replaced is the Large Trapazoid section that has two pipes going in and one coming out. It's labled AMG on the bottom of it. That is what is refered to as the "resonator." I wonder if the sound is much different depending on which section you pull out. I think the what I have referred to as the resonator is a bigger restriction than the rear muffler.
Here's an EXCELLENT How-To on removing what most of us consider to be the resonator:

Good work. Nice to see something different yet quality.
Re: Crossfire Exhaust system upgrade $200.
I as well can not wait to hear the sound of your crossfire. Did you intent to remove the resonator and accidentally remove the muffler thinking it was the resonator. lol This time it just might work out in your favor I cant wait I hope it sounds better then with the muffler left on and the resonator removed.
