SL55 Y pipe and K&N air filters removed...
Hi all,
I have been running with the SL55 intake pipes and K&N Air filters for a couple of months now and service time has arrived so I have removed them before it goes in.
It is reassuring to know that the car, although still fast, does not have the same excitement with them removed. I have noticed that the biggest difference is from 5,000 - 6,000 rpm where it just seems to lack that last "urgent" surge to the red line, also when it changes gear it feel a bit "softer".
So all in all, They will be going back on as soon as I have it back from the dealers as it definatley feels sharper and more exciting to drive with it all in place.
Thought you may be interested to know.

My SRT went in for service (#2 injector) and I still had the entire SL55 intake system installed - the Dealer said it was no issue and would not void the warranty.
FYI

LOL.

The service writer if he's wise will look for opportunity to fix anything and everything likewise for the tech who gets paid on the same basis.
I used to be a mechanical technician at a stealership and believe me when I say that warranty work(generally) sucks. It doen't pay very well and you're not allowed to "flag" hours as fast as non warranty work. Have you ever wondered why it takes sooo long to get your car fixed when it goes in just for a warranty item? It's because nobody wants to waste their time to make such little money.

Maybe in the UK the dealerships are a bit tighter. Whan I asked about even fitting my K&N air filters they said my warranty would be invalid. I understand it needs to be related to the fault, but who knows what may be uncovered. Also when I asked about fitting a better rated intercooler pump, they said the same, even though it would imporve the reliability of the car and again with the supercharger clutch...........
I have a few warranty issues neing looked at when it is in this week for the service so thought it better to be safe than sorry especially since it involes things like the engine starting to idle a bit lumpy.
