Default DRY ICE on the SC

Has anyone tried Dry Ice to freeze the SC before a run? I have used it many times in the past at the Land Speed racing events for my Top Mount Intercooler on my WRX. I'm wondering if anyone has iced down or Dry Iced the SC before a run.

Here is a video and high res pic of my Subaru The Stickers were just for a photo shoot and are no longer on that car.

IMO, I don't think dry ice on the supercharger will do much and could be a little too cold to place directly on the charger.
I'm working on a remote IC coolant resivour setup that will have two power steering fluid coolers, capable of being packed with dry ice or normal ice. It may be a few weeks until it's done but I'll be sure to post results.

HK...

I'll try this for track days during this summer. I've seen first hand the effects of cooling the s/c when I went for a dyno. The shop owner poured liquid nitrogen on top of the s/c and did a second dyno after my first run was just miserable. had heat soak due to me sitting in LA traffic for a good two hours and been driving all day. The second results were remarkable.

...empirical data and not a butt dyno!

We Dry Iced the intakes on a SRT-8 and the Top Mounted Intercooler on a bunch of WRX's and found it's worth 2-3mph on the Standing Mile runs. I use it at the drag strip to get rid of heat soak. I think the cast on the SC could handle it but wanted to know what people though before I go and be a test mule.

i'll try it this february. do you just put the dry ice directly on top and how long do you leave it there?

I leave it on when I run as it will form right to the groves of my TMIC. For the SC I would leave it one until it freezes over and remove just before you run. Have someone with a cooler standing by.

we used to get dry ice nuggets and pack it intot he ic ducts ont he stealth back in the day id be afraid to try in on top of the sc tho. ive been piecing togather a dei system to run co2 thru there intake bulbs in both intake manifold tubes, then thru the intake pipe and then purge onto the oem heat exchanger. we may route it thru a fuel chiller aswell before thre purge also. imo this would be a much safer scenario since we couldnt damage anythign as expensive as the sc direclty, wouldnt it suck to crack the sc housing? ouch.

im surprised you guys used it on the flats, im impressed

Yep, you're correct... That's the reason I built this charge air coolant tank for the new racing engine... It still has to be welded, but has two removable "holders" for Dry Ice for drags, or using frozen "blue ice" for longer road races...

This one was built for long races to insure lengthy cooling... But I'm sure if someone who was only doing a 11 second drag could build a much smaller one that would create the same HP increases....

Incase I didn't mention, this is just the mock-up with the cut aluminum pieces and temp gaskets... It still needs to be welded and the 3/4" AN hose fittings need to be drilled and installed with the internal tubes...

I hope this gives you guys some ideas for your street cars...

I went 153.5mph on 331hp in a 2003 stock block WRX Wagon.

We have some built Sti's running 176-179mph this is in the Standing Mile.
For reference, a CarreraGT runs a 181, a Ford GT runs 181. We are with-in 2mph in Stock bodied 4 door coke machines.
