Question SRT-6 Original Warranties: a question, a few answers

I'm researching the ins-and-outs of the SRT-6 warranty. Current owners won't find anything new here, but for those of us trying to figure out what's going on in the used market....

My question: is there a web site (or a phone number) where I can check on the warranty status of a particular VIN #? For any given used SRT-6 for sale, I need to find out:
1. the number of previous owners, however Chrysler defines "owner", and
2. the in-service date of the car.
I figure if I was buying from a Chrysler dealership, they could look it up and tell me. But what if I want a used SRT-6 for sales from a non-Chrysler dealership?

+++++

Here's what the SRT-6 warranty books says about the Chrysler warranties. Huge thanks to MMZ TimeLord for posting the pdf.

There are two Chrysler warranties that come with the car: the Basic Limited Warranty, and the Limited Powertrain Warranty. The Basic warranty:

covers the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair any defective item on your vehicle supplied by DaimlerChrysler Corporation that is defective in material, workmanship or factory preparation.
The Basic warranty:

lasts for 36 months from the date it begins or for 36,000 miles on the odometer, whichever occurs first
.

From what I can tell, the Basic warranty stays with the car, regardless of how many times it's sold during the 3/36 period. That sound right?

OTOH, the Powertrain warranty begins after the expiration of the Basic:

The Powertrain Warranty begins at the end of the Basic Limited Warranty, on either of the following dates, whichever is earlier:

• the date your vehicle has been in service for more than 36 months; or
• the date you've put more than 36, 000 miles on the odometer.
And the Powertrain warranty:

lasts for 7 years from the date your vehicle has been in-service or 70,000 miles on the odometer, whichever occurs first, to the first owner
.

The Powertrain warranty can be transferred to a second owner:

you must have an authorized Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer process a "Transfer of Coverage Application" for you. The cost for this service is $150. You pay this fee directly to the dealer. You must apply for a coverage transfer within 30 days from the date you buy the vehicle.
But the 3rd and subsequent owners of SRT-6 are SOL as far as the Powertrain warranty goes:

If you do not transfer the remainder of the 7 year/70,000 mile Powertrain Limited Warranty coverage and pay the transfer fee, or if you are the third (or subsequent) owner of the vehicle, the Powertrain Limited Warranty described in this Section 2.2 does not apply to you.
Hope this helpful to some.

SRTs only have 3/36 from original in-service unless certified or an extended wty is purchased

Double ditto. And I think that's also true for all other SRT models as well.

http://www.chrysler.com/en/owners/

click on "Service Contracts" then "About Service Contracts" then indicate you already have an exsisting plan, then click on "My Plan".

I was able to confirm the exact warranty coverage and in-service date of my car. Maybe this will help answer some of your questions.

Since I kicked this thread off...

Thanks, everyone for contributing. As regards the SRT-6 and the Limited Powertrain Warranty: I stand corrected. The warranty pdf that I was quoting must be generic to all XF's, and not to the SRT specifically.
