Default washer pump busted?

Bought my car with 4k miles on it. The windshield washer seemed very weak. Then it stopped working altogether. I refilled it with 1 gallon of fluid. It seems like an entire gallon spilled out the bottom of the car. I still have no spray. I can hear the pump buzzing, but zero comes out of either nozzle? Anyone seen this? Simple fix or take it to the dealer? Thanks for all responses.

Take her to the Dealer.....Also hit them up for some windshield washer fluid! There are some stores in Minnesota that are selling that stuff for $3.50 a gallon, because of the slushy weather.

As to why they won't spray on the glass I don't have the answer for that but I can tell you that there is an overflow on the side of the washer bucket and it will spill out at the point when it is full. This has been discussed here before.

I don't know if this is the same thing but i had the same thing happen to a 4 runner I owned one time. I went to clean my windshield and I could hear the pump running but no washer fluid was coming out of the sprayers so I put washer fluid in the resevoir thinking it was empty and the fluid just ran out of the tank. I then removed the tank and checked it out and the pump had a big crack in the side of it. When I went to the dealership to buy a new pump the parts guy said if you let the washer fluid run to almost empty on very cold days or nights there is a risk of the washer fluid freezing and breaking the pump. He said when it is cold make sure your washer fluid is at least half way full.

If you can hear the pump running it might have a glog. Check the spray nozzle tips to see if there is any wax or something there. A safety pin or paper clip works good. Something could be in the tank blocking the line also. As far as the leaking I'm glad I read this thread because mine did the samething after I filled it. I was going to take it apart to find the leak.
