Exactly like this

SCHOOL TIME... The throttle body is (mechanical, or drive-by-wire) the throat size is (?mm)

No more parts on the floor, I have the SRT6 engine rebuilt and ready for install, just waiting on delivery of the new SPEC Racing clutch and throwout bearing... Now I'm tearing down the old engine to see what I can do with it... Might be a good experiment to see how large the intake and exhaust ports can be bored without ruining the integrity of the block... there is alot of excess material there...

And if you really wanted to desigh a perfect CAI for this car, you would run the tubes directly back and upward into the troff where the windshield wiper motor is... it has a perfect laminar airflow over the hood with ambient air and eliminates any heat from the engine bay... It's a simple mfg. process and you can use 4" x 8" air filters that fit perfectly into the troff... the only thing you have to fabricate is the housing and a cover that prevents rain water from entering...
School's out !!!

The official OEM nomenclature for the plastic coupler that merges intake air from the two airboxes to the throttle body is called the "Air Intake Pipe" or so it says on my receipt from MB and the on-line catalogs. - I believe this is the part BDJ has manufactured using Aluminum and TIG welds.
The pipe with the MAF sensor is called the "Distributor".
That's the Official OEM NOMEN for those two parts.
The MB forums (right or wrong) interchange the "Air Intake Pipe" with the "Y-Pipe" when refuring to upgrading the stock SLK32 intake system with the SL55.
Technically speaking, there is no "Y-Pipe" on the 3.2L MB engine.
Good luck with your engine swap HDDP - it's looking good.
Re: New CAI PICS/Measurements
LOL... Merry Christmas Jody... Yes, you are correct as usual.... half of the air intake system parts are not even listed in the catalog.... The Y pipe, the plastic extension tubes, etc... If you ever need to replace them, or any parts. I have a wholesale distributer here in Los Angeles that sells all MB / CROSSFIRE parts to NASA racers at cost + 2%...
PS: I finally heard back from Greg Greenbaum about the re-classification of my car for next season... It seems he has put me in TTC** in the time trials division and PTC in the race division... He has assigned the OEM weight as 3,240 lbs... The asterisks mean additional modification points that will push me one class up because the weight of the car has been reduced from "his" OEM weight by 400 + lbs...
SAD...

Hey HDDP, if your looking for a piston shop Benoli Pistons make a beautiful slug, they have years of experience in piston design and they are located in LA, they are probably cheaper than MBZ and you can do custom features for the same price of the OEM parts.
let me know if you want the number.

So, MMZ here's photos of the new wiring harness' that I built for the SRT6 RACE engine... 28 sensor & control cables... All of the new harness' are housed with EMI resistant tin / copper sleeve.. All of the connectors are new... (hey JEREMY do you know who manufactures the connectors for all the wiring in this car ?)
How about the illustrias "BDJ RACING" who professes to be a racing specialist with the crossfire...

Re: New CAI PICS/Measurements
Those are "cute" pictures everybody posted. I think I have said this a few times now, we are talking about the aftermarket cold air intakes. I am not sure why anybody posted a picture of a partially torn down motor?? I dont think that helped at all. The picture of the supercharger assembly is cool, but still totally off the subject of this "thread".
I am not an expert on this car by any means. That is why I post and normally finish with IMO. (in my opinion). I have been posting pictures and detailed instructions on what I have been building for the car. I was not totally satisfied with the other CAI's (cold air intake's) on the market, so I made my own. I was not trying to offend anybody on this forums. I simply posted pictures of what I made and have had other forum members wanting to buy the CAI.
Now back on the subject. We are not talking about the cast aluminum "y" under the throttle body. I am familiar with that piece. You should probably look at the 1st post on this thread and look at "my" pictures. They might help you out in this situation. IMO.
