Default I'm keeping the traction control on for now on unless I'm the only one on the road.

I don't know if its just my car or my lack of experience with rear wheel drive cars, but if from a stop i try making a somewhat quick turn with my car totaly loses it when TC is off. The first time i did it I was trying to beat a red light. I ended up going sideways through the turn (it straight out a drifting video type stuff here, im sure it must have looked cool, but i was like wtf). This last time, the rear end totaly lost it and I start fish tailing furiously so I try backing off the gas, but it seems once the darn thing starts spinning its in drop the hammer mode and won't stop sending crazy power to the wheels even if I let off and try easing into the gas again. I ended up doing a friggin donut in the middle of the road, LOL. My daily driver is a Corolla so maybe my foot is too use front wheel drives with 0 torque.

O yeah, that last time with the donut in the middle of the road, I was trying to destroy this v6 tiburon that kept pulling up and speeding off trying to test me. I finally gave in ( a worthles kill, i know, but nobody ever tries me ever, been itchin to embarrass some ricer) and was about to make him wish he had a real sports car when I lost to a friggin tiburon, WOW. Its official people, the first time in history a tiburon killed an srt-6. LOL, I so suck.I won't let you down next time fellas. The next ford focus I catch at the light, his A$$ is mine.

Even with the TC off my car does not get that squirrly...I have never come close to doing a donut...It always kicks on when it goes just a little sideways.

I've done this once. Unfortunatly it was by accident. About a 75 deg turn that I hit going juussst aaa leeetle too faaast with my very worn rear OEM Mich. Did the little counter-steer short lived drift thing until the TC kicked in.

The only times I turn the TC off is when I want to play or starting from a stop in the snow/ice.

I always have to remember not to take those clover-leaf off ramps at 45 mph in my truck. That's a pucker moment.

I don't know if the previous owner somehow totaly disengaged the TC, or my TC just doesnt work well once you press the button off. This aint the first time it has been off that the TC did not kick in to save my ***, LOL. This is the second time, the first time I was making a turn also when it happenned. That time I was just going sideways through the intersection so I just went with the flow but this time my rear end was fish tailing like I had it floored or something. I maybe pressed the gas about a lil over half way down when it initially started losing it, although it was a fast jab of the pedal to that point. I was too busy trying to keep it going forward to check if the TC light came on at all. My car is a snarling beast once that button goes off. Well let me correct myself in that it wasnt a full donut, it was a 3/5 ingulfed in tire smoke. Kinda cool, but friggin scary too. When this happens my gas pedal seems to get really sensitive and just touching it makes the tires spin like all 310 ft/lbs of torque are trying to unleash. My car is stock by the way. Anyways, that friggin button is staying in the on position unless Im doing a straight forward launch.

P.S. Im pretty sure in straight forward launches with the TC off I don't recall it coming on at any point either. I'm going to try turning it off and flooring it to see if my TC comes on at all.

I forgot to mention, my tires are in really good shape (continentals) and it wasnt icey or anything either time.

Do you possibly have a Sprint Booster? That add on eliminates the little play there is in the throttle. It has been reported that you have to be very careful driving it until you learn the right touch.

I do have the A2 installed, but the TC didn't come on at all from what I could tell. I was fish tailing back and forth violently. I was letting off the gas and trying to ease into it but that didnt work because everytime I touched the gas the tires would spin again. Now I have launched with the TC on and know what sounds it makes when it comes on and I dont recall hearing anything during these incidents. If it did come on then how in the world did I end up facing the other way surrounded by tire smoke when it was all said and done? Honestly if there wasn't a curb right there I probably could have been able to bring it the full way around. I stomped on the brakes to avoid the rear wheel clipping the curb. I'm sure the sprint booster plays a factor in the amount of throtle its putting down so fast, but that doesnt change the fact that the TC didnt correct this crazy tire spin. I am a rookie when it comes to rear wheel drive cars, so that also plays a factor I'm sure.

You know why the "TC" don't work in your car, because your beloved patriots have been pushing it all season. It's "The Cheat" button for patriots fans. I bet you Belichek has your donut on video somewhere. You didn't think I was going to let you slide (no pun intended) on this post. Steelers baby. I did do the rain dance, but it was a week too late. I hope your enjoying that weather. Nice and beautiful here. Even went to the track.

For everyone else it's a Steelers Patriots thing between me and him. They are one up right now, but we'll see in the playoffs.

First off the in an SRT6 and the traction control off (by the switch) you can get the car sideways, BUT, it should start to cut your engine power significantly as it can sense (through the Yaw sensor) that you are in trouble (or so it believes). Sideways = trouble for the average driver.

If your engine is NOT cutting out or reducing power to let you catch and get traction, then I'd get the Yaw sensor checked ASAP!!!

Now, if you want fun... you can disconnect the Yaw sensor on purpose and turn off the TC and you can doughnut to your heart's content.

Hope that helps.

I must have a slow to react yaw sensor. My TC has never been very intrusive like Chi-town makes his out to seem. I tried from a stop stomp on the gas with the TC off launch and I fish tailed (not violently like in the previous incidents), but the TC was very brief with its input. It definitely allowed a decent fish tail though. Anyway, I guess its not a bad thing. Just have to be mindful that its not going to save my a$$ if I get too wreckless.

I find that even with it turned off, if there is too much wheelspin it kicks in and requires me to be responsible....

Despite the fact that your tires are in good shape, the temp will stil have an impact on your traction.

Go PATS!!!!

Be safe, and avoid Johnny Law

While your theory on the possible problem with my TC was very insiteful it doesn't change the fact that THE PATS STOMPED THE STEELERS SORRY A$$ES. Always good to have you badgering though, lets me know your still mad and bitter (makes me all worm and fuzzy).

I have been sideways in my SRT6 w/the traction control off. I can essentially roast the tires with it off as well.

I had a new TC experience that irritated me last night.

I was waiting to pull out on the main road and jumped on it when I had my chance.
The rear tires spun a little on some sand and the TC kicked in just as I was 3/4th into the lane. The car I pulled out in front of (a good six car lengths back) was coming up on me quick while my engine was sitting there refusing to rev. :P

Anyways, the on coming car had to slow down a little because the TC interfered with me jackrabbiting out into traffic. Dangerous. Gave me a very minor pucker moment. I'm sure the car behind me thought I had a stick and almost stalled the car. lol.

Electric Messiah,

Solution... don't depress the accelerator pedal so far, it will still have traction and power, if it slips on gravel, then it will still cut out a bit, but not so much.

If you had the TC off you may have ended up in the lane facing the wrong direction

Gotta love the sphincter factor in some situations...

Thumbs down Re: I'm keeping the traction control on for now on unless I'm the only one on the road.

I almost wrecked mine today and I consider myself a pretty good driver. It reminds me of my 90" wheelbase Cobra replica that I sold a few years ago. I gained a lot of respect for the car today!
