Angry Pulley/Intake/Tune in the snow review...

It took me 1 hour to go 9 miles today in the SRT. Even in the W mode this car is HORRIBLE in the snow with all the mods and the Pilot Sports on back.

I got stuck for a minute or two every time I had to stop. Off idle the traction control light would on! People were looking at me like I was a dam idiot as all we had today was about half an inch. I finally got to my neighborhood and got stuck on a small hill and had to put it in reverse and go another way just to get home.

So there you have it folks...the SRT/6 with all those mods is one of the fastest cars out there in the summer and the SLOWEST one out there in a snowy winter! LOL.

Looks like i'll be getting me ANOTHER winter beater this year...

I guess they where right, only an idot would take a 400 hp sports car out in the snow, lol. Next time mount up the studded snow tires in October to avoid looking like a deuche, not that it would even make a difference... sorry for the insults but I would not of posted this if I did the same.

I went out this morning hearing all the warnings of the storm and THOUGHT I would be back before it hit. The best things someone can do when they make a mistake is tell others of how to avoid it.

And your insults really don't bother me. I'm more than 100% sure the internet is the only place you do things like that otherwise Maxwell would be Max not so well.

Hmmm, this is going to be interesting this year. I'm glad my area rarely gets snow (an inch twice a year on average), I've already noticed how bad traction with summer tires actually is when it gets cold out. At night with temps in the 30s it already like driving in the rain. I see my traction control light everytime I drive it now. I can imagine how bad it is with the "mods".

Well at least you won't get "towed" for hot-doggin' on the streets of Chi-Town in the winter weather. Do you plan to put it away and wait for spring?

Your post makes me appreciate living in So Cal. Temperature dropped all the way down to 68 Deg. today. Yup, winter's on the way.

It will give you sometime to install your next mod - perhaps a radar/laser detector?

Yes - the boy has a few issues to workout; that's for sure.

Chi-town, this Max, not so much, but more a mini, is and continues to be a loser and just mean spirited that can't get out of his own way. I'm doing the daily driver thing and with no mods, snow tires and a couple hundred pounds in the rear will let you know how many people look at me sideways when the snow hits. When it gets bad enough I'll get the 4x4 Ram fired up.

I am considering it. I'm pretty much done speeding/street racing for awhile. After all that money I just paid out on all the need for speed magically goes away.

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. Had dinner with a friend a couple years ago, and while I was in the restaraunt, Denver decided to have a quick ice storm. Too bad I had driven to the restaraunt in my 500 hp, 500 tq 2004 cobra. Incidentally, I also had Michelin PS2's on that car when it happened. There is a reason why their snow traction rating is listed as "N/A (not applicable)". LOL!

What a nightmare. I also had to drive home using geography that night. If I hadn't figured out a route across town that was all downhill to my house, I would have had to sleep in my car on a roadside somewhere.

My SRT-6 with the Continental All Seasons is quite suprisingly good in the snow, however. I powered up a VERY steep hill near my house that was covered with snow and ice a couple days ago. The traction control light flashed a few times, and slowed me down, but it kept chugging, much to my delight! With dedicated snow tires on this car, it would be an absolute dream in the snow, I'm betting. But, all this is before the intake and pulley. Hehe.

Chi-town,
This will make you feel better. I bought a freightliner M2 in 2004 to pull my 40 ft toyhauler. I went down with my family to visit my parents for Christmas vacation in Florida. Well on the ride home we had a snow storm in NY that was still going when I was returned home. I made it all the way back to my street which is a cul-de-sac. My house is third on the left and the street rises a total of about 3 feet in the 300ft distance to my driveway. Well at about 3:00 in the morning I'm trying to get up enough speed to get just past my driveway to back the trailer down. Needless to say it took 20 full throttle runs with enough black diesel smoke to block out the moon and stars, but I finally made it and all the neighbors were very happy because they came out to watch the show, since they couldn't sleep from the noise.

Crap! I was hoping to keep my SRT-8 garaged to keep the miles off. Believe or not, that car handles really well in the snow. We can see a fair share of snow in the DC area.

i was planning on hitting the dragstrip this morning with the cold weather for their last open day, last night we went out to dinner, came outside and had 2 inches of snow, took us 2 hours to get home from 14 miles away, we hit a top speed of 28 mph going sideways. got stuck at a uphill red light that took me 3 greens to finally get thru it (the people behind me weren't to happy).

that was with 275/30/19 rear toyo proxy's, our intake and exhaust. i don't think the power mods were the culprit due to spinning the tires at idle. i think its due to the summer tires. we got home and jumped in the truck and could go wherever we wanted.

Now bear in mind, I don't have any mods done to the car, but I also live in around Chicago and had to deal with the snow yesterday. The car didn't do bad at all yesterday infact it was the people in the SUVs that seemed to be having trouble (or they were just driving 10 for other reasons). I do work at a pretty large facility with their own roads that were not plowed at all yesterday and the car did fine on those too. But yeah again I do not have any mods to the car.

PS - who (black coupe) was out on Milwaukee and Harlem at around 8:20?

That was me! I had an appointment with a client of mine in the skokie area.

Couldn't have been you, it wasn't an SRT (sorry I didn't mention it) unless my mind is just going. You shoulda had a good chance to see me sitting on Milwaukee if it was you. I seem to see a lot of non SRTs around the Harlem area, I have yet to see another SRT not sitting on a lot. Anyways, shoulda told me you were gonna be around we could of went for a lovely night of automobile ice skating together.

There's your problem. The second I saw a snowflake yesterday, I put my car up on jackstands and swapped out my summer tires to my winter tires. Any vehicle can be driven in any weather, you just require the proper shoes. Pirelli Snow Sport 240s for the win.
