Want to go fast over a long distance?
If you want to go fast for a sustained distance, here are some ideas.
The Silver State Classic - a 90 mile open road race held in Nevada on a public highway (closed for the event) each year. The caveat is that there are fairly stringent rules for safety that might restrict you from fully enjoying your SRT as a stock vehicle.
The rest of these are from Wikipedia. A number of other Open Road Racing events have also started. MKM Promotions puts on three events in Northern Nevada at Wendover, Elko and Battle Mountain, all with similar formats, a few more high speed corners and comparable rules. The Big Bend Open Road Racing organization runs two races in West Texas each year: the eponymous Big Bend Open Road Race in April and the Road Runner event in October.
You can google for links to any of these, and the Silver State is in the Wikipedia too.

Re: Want to go fast over a long distance?
Hey Guys!
I am a new SRT6 owner. Had the car for two weeks now.
I gotta say that would be an awesome race! I have wanted to run in that myself for a number of years, but never felt I had a car worthy of entering. Things have now changed!
From what I understand the fuel pump may need to be upgraded for sustained high speed driving, especially with modiffied cars (pulleys, intakes, etc..) Maybe someone with a bit more experience with the srt6 can chime in on that one for me.
If you do run in it you have to let the rest of us know how it was and how your car did!

Re: Want to go fast over a long distance?
I'd like to do the Texas mile, if I have a spare $200 to blow and got the speed limiter removed.

Re: Want to go fast over a long distance?
When googling, I used the search string "Open Road Racing" and the state.
Couldn't find any meets/clubs for Kansas City or Nashville areas.
If there are any other terms for search strings that should be used, please post them.
Thanks.

Re: Want to go fast over a long distance?
So heres a thought. Since there are quite a few of us that enjoy racing and would love to get our cars on the open road, what about a team event? We could either have one group, or maybe two, such as an srt group and an NA group? Anybody interested?
