LETMOTORSPORTS is NOW A SPONSOR!

Welcome to LETMotorsports! We are very excited about becoming a forum sponsor, as we are in the process of creating several new products that are available on the market for the C32!

This is an adventure that many of you have had the privilege of being a part of recently. You have seen the passion that we have for making the C32 one of the most feared cars on the road. We will continue in this endeavor, even as we offer products for other vehicles.

Our philosophy is simple: “We want to provide excellent products and superior customer service at affordable prices!” That’s it, plain and simple.

Here is a little about Owner/Entrepreneur, Erick Gunter. “I have always had a passion for cars. My dad gave me a good basis for most of what I know, dragging me out in the garage every Saturday to work on the car, modify it, maintain it; he taught me a lot and I am grateful for his experience. The rest came from my experimenting with every vehicle I have every owned…it seems like I just could not leave anything alone. I created a new engine management system for the Mazdaspeed Protégé along with fabricating my own front mount intercooler system. I fabricated a supercharger for a Saleen Explorer from scratch and built a water/methanol injection kit in lieu of an intercooler. And most of you know the extensive work that I have put into the C32 AMG. If not, then check out our website, most of the products I had some hand in its creation. Those are just a few examples of the many along the way.”

So, now that you know a little about me, I think it might be time to save you guys some money! You will see several threads appearing with group buy info!

Again, we are very excited to be a part of this community, please let us know how we can help!

Thanks,
Erick Gunter

He already replied and we'll be discussing it tomorrow over the phone.

I wont be able to do any major mods until after Christmas, but my co-worker with the SRT Roadster is chomping at the bit to get a pulley. So, he'll be glad to be the guinea pig!

I am passing right by LET's place on Dec 7th on my way to Mississippi, I will definitely check it out then if not sooner.

I have the 185mm crank pulley and a SL55 Air Intake system on order with Erick.

Very accommodating and informative to talk to and learn from.

The pulley is on order and the airboxes should ship tomorrow. I am installing a boost gauge this weekend and designing a IAT gauge (digital with green backlighting) that I will share once I get some circuitry engineering complete.

Couldn't figure out the outside air temp, or didn't want to hassle with it?

Where do you plan to install the IAT? Is there something you can plumb into already, or will you be making your own port?

Not enough info in the manuals to know what signal is needed to drive the display, or if it was even possible to push enough signal range thru to get high enough readings to display required IAT. I guess I could take a heat gun to the OAT sensor and see if it fry's at 200 deg or hits peak display. Everyone I talked to said that many have tried - none had succeeded.

The IAT sensor probe is readily available and will mount in the metal inlet y-pipe with a 1/8 NPT fitting. (Similar to the boost gauge sensor on SLK32.com)

The display is identified and will match our dash temp display. Its the glue logic between the sensor and the display that is yet to be work out but that won't be to difficult. Just laying it out and packaging it will be the challenging part - as I want a very small package. I plan to mount it on the outside of the Boost Gauge Cup, but it could be mounted in the pillar or modified to fit into a gauge pod.

I hope to have a prototype working before I install the pulley so I can see not only the boost increase but any increase in IAT.

take pictures of the install for both. I dont think anyone has done a how to on either you be saving us alot of time. When you install the pulley dont do it the cowboy way like everyone else spend the $40 and buy the right tool. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...spagenameZWDVW

My neighbor is a MB Tech working at our local dealer - he could be considered a bit of a 'redneck' and offered to swap my pulleys for a 6-pack when I decide to order them.
Is that considered the 'cowboy way' also?

I haven't really liked the idea about 'jamming' the TC either...but it has worked for a lot of folks. I hope to have my neighbor install mine.

I spoke with Erick today and he seems quite knowledgeable. He does seem to think that Evotech is a better route than inmotion or speedinovations for tuning, but he 'reps' them so I guess you can't blame him for being biased.
He said that Evo tech is more capable of fine tuning for specific mods. He said the other guys use 'out of the box stock' tunes, where as Evo can manipulate it. I told him that the 'other guys' offered to re-tune for each mod, and he wasn't aware of this and thinks that maybe they are now able to get more detailed when tuning.

He also said that Evo charges $100 each time they re-flash it as opposed to the 'free' reflash on the InMotion.

It seems that the same tuning that Evo does is being offered by the 'other guys' for less money, and you still get free re-flashes from the 'other guys'. I believe this has been mentioned before on this board, just re-itterating (before someone bites my head off for repeating it )

I plan to drop by and see them on Dec 7th, and maybe leave either my car or my co-worker's car there for a weekend so he can do some test fitting, measurements, etc.

As of now, he is working out of his home garage - and he's in the process of trying to get a shop financed and off the ground.

He definitely has some good ideas in the works and seems like he will go through with them. He also seems like he is willing to take some input, so if you have any ideas and may want something manufactured, it may be worth your while to email or call him.

I'll keep you all posted.

Well does your neighbor own a horse? lol Thats cool and good news about Erik he seems like a great guy and is also very quick to respond to any question you might have. I wish that heat exchanger and headers fit our car. I would be willing to do some inside bumper trimming for that kit. Maybe we could talk him into offering the likes of VRP's new kit which also includes a new johnson pump a how to all the plumbing, heat exchanger, and a ice packing reservoir or more coolant reservoir if you like. I suppose we can buy them all separate I like the sabb and jag reservoir better anyway but just a thought.

He said he sourced a Bosch pump that was 'HD' compared to the stock one, flows twice as much, but is a 'bolt in' with no additional mods required...any info on this pump? Good, bad?

As for the heat exchanger, he is working on it, and plans to work on a reservoir as well.

I believe the pump he is referring to is the ford pump now i say that very lightly because the lightning pump is the exact same as our bosch Mercedes pumps. This one would be the cobra pump I think for only the SVT's, anyway its bosch and it pumps three times not two times as much coolant. I believe this one is comparable to the CM90 johnson not the CM30 listed. You have to be careful though because running the coolant too fast actually does more harm then good if I'm not mistaken what i have read before is it's like when you take a thermostat out, and the car runs hotter, The coolant flows too fast not staying in the radiator long enough to get cool... Here are the specs you can get these directly from bosch on the cobra pump. The lightning pump is almost oem. As you can see the cobra pump is much stronger.

:: Stock pump ::
Inlet: 20mm
Outlet: 20mm
Capacity: 14 lpm / 3.7 gpm
Current Draw: 2.1 amps

:: Johnson pump ::
Inlet: 20mm
Outlet: 20mm
Capacity: 22 lpm / 5.8 gpm
Current Draw: 2.2 amps

:: Cobra pump ::
inlet 3/4
outlet 3/4
capacity 35 lpm/9 GPM
current draw 2.3 amps

There is already a Bosch IAT sensor installed, this is one on the many data streams that the ECU / PCM uses to manipulate engine operation... Just access the data through the OBD port...
