Embarrassing 1968 Camaro SS Convertible
Embarrassing 1968 Camaro SS Convertible
It was an interesting ride home from work today. I was stopped in a line of traffic waiting o pull out onto the main road that runs through town. There was a nicely restored 1968 Camaro SS Convertible behind me waiting in the line of traffic along with myself. I could see the driver (top down) trying to see what type of car was in front of him which was me. I removed the letters on the trunk for a cleaner look and it was quite amusing watching him stretch his neck out of socket. As it was my turn, I pulled out into the right lane. As I did this, I watched the SS punch it and expect to fly out around me into the left lane. Needless to say, I needed to respond and punched it as well. He stayed close until he hit third gear and I left him in a world of shame. He pulled off into a parking lot before the next light holding his head low. Not sure what he had in his car but he obviously thought he would show off a bit. I guess he was a little surprised.

cool i had a young dude and his side kick pull up to me at a red light .
we had 2 lane Black Top like in the movie.
he was driving a newer Trans AM sounded fairly good. we took off and wow i ate him up.
3 maybe 4 cars ...
next red light he pulled up poised ready to race. i let him leave first ...almost a mistake.
he pulled me 2 cars cause i slept off the line, but i came back in 2nd and 3rd.
for a victory by 1 car lol that was fun for sh$#z and grins.
these cars are quick but most of all a head knocker ... car ot me get the looks... hehe.

Nice kills! I've only had one street encounter so far and it was my friends bolt-on/cammed Ls1 Z28. He runs 12.7s off the bottle. Needless to say I lost by about a 1 car gap, but I was happy to hang so close being stock. Luckily he was out of N20 or else he would have blown my doors off, with the nitrous kit that I sold him. I used to mess around a lot on the street, but I have grown up a little. Here's a little vid of the S2k whooping up on some other 13 sec cars, well except for the Ls1 firebird, almost had him.

Not to thread jack, but the car was capable of low 13's, just never got the chance to run in it in cool weather. Altitude density is ridiculous here in the summer time. I managed to pull that 13.6 in my sig with a burned up stock clutch in very hot and humid weather. It was an '05 model AP2. Stock I ran 14.2. My mods were, AEM-V2, Ricks header, berk TP, invidia exhaust, vafc tune, 4.57 gears with comptech reinforced diff, and later added ACT clutch with comptech flywheel. Made 216 whp and 151 ft/bs on a dynojet. I spent a good bit of money to get it running respectively fast so $1,500 for a pulley and intake is a bargain for the performance gain on the SRT-6. Can't wait to purchase those items. Anyway long story short the car was wrecked/repaired and never the same after so I traded it in on my truck. I was looking to buy another, that is when I discovered the SRT and we lived happily ever after.

We had just had dinner my lovely wife next to me and we were just cruising home past the police station in our 1 week old SRT. When this near new 650 bmw cpe pulled up next to me at the light, he looked kinda at me like I wasn't worthy of his Bimmers powerful v-8 and took off the light fast. I gave him about 1/2 the intersection and caught him, he tried a little harder MORE gas, that's when I slammed it and left him in my little 3.2 dust ! Haha bye-bye.

So far, several not worth mentioning, but in the noteworthy category:
an 80-something Z28 who thought I was insulting him by driving so slowly, 1/2 a mile later, he was shamed and dropped back like a puppy hit in the nose with a newspaper.
And a lexus convertible (an SC, prolly 2007), who had a LOT more oomph than it should have. They list at 288hp, but I think he had mods. I didn't get to talk to him for more than a sec, but when we got to the next light we were both laughing like little kids with new toys. He said his wife (sitting next to him) wouldn't let him catch me. But he hung with me much longer than I though. I got him off the line, but he stuck a couple car lengths behind me WAY past the speed limit - WAAAAAAAYYYYYY past it.

A while back I got 'the look' from a Solstice driver (non GXP. Not that it would have mattered unless it was seriously modded). I shrugged it off and let him pass me (didn't want to waste the gas - ).
By chance I ended up catching up with it at the next light. I could see the cocky @$$ look in the rear view as I was behind it.
It took off from the light and I absolutely demolished it. As I was passing it, I squealed 2nd. LOL. It was ugly.
