Sounds right to me. I love beating up on LS1 and LT1 F-Bodies and GTOs. And unless its a modded 03-04 Cobra, or a blown 3 Valve 4.6, I don't even bother wasting the gas on the Blue Ovals.

You keep saying things like that about the SRT-6. First you said they only dynoed 250 HP, now you think a mild LS1 GTO is a Challenge? I think not. You really do underestimate these cars abilities. I take it that you have never driven/ridden in one.

 

I had a WRX STi trying to mess with me on the 401 in canada last thursday.......he could never keep up, so I did the only thing I could do...........slow down a little and drop him like a bad habit over and over!

This went on for about 60 miles.......right up until we pulled off on the same offramp. A classic stoplight showdown was developing!

Unfortunately.......we both pulled up to the light........right behind a Saleen S7! LOL ....The Subaru and I both puttered away in severe respect of the Saleen! Apparently neither of us felt the need to be spanked that badly!

 

i ran with a SRT Grand Cherokee on the QEW a couple weeks ago...on the way back from Toronto...but with that new "50 KPH over the limit" law, i showed a little restraint. not that i'd challenge the GC SRT...but it made for a fun trip.

Stock LS1's with bad drivers are not all that quick, especially the 6spds. With a good driver, a stock LS1 would be similar to a stock SRT6 I would assume.
The car I raced was not stock, had drag radials, and was launched hard...but I caught him sleeping on the tree and got him in the end. He was running me down, though. He definitely had full exhaust, and I think it may have been cammed. 6spd car.

The mustangs were a full 1-2 seconds slower...not even a race. There was one out there (3v 4.6) with a blower - he was quick but I never lined up next to him. He could easily win if he shifted/launched right. He was laying down 12.80's, but throwing in a few 13.4's in there also...so I MAY have got him

There was a C5 z06 that I was within .2 seconds of. He had exhaust for sure, not sure what else. Best I saw out of him was 12.9.

All of this is on the track. The only car I messed with on the street was the Exige.

The M3 that came up on us was quick - don't think he was stock. He made short work of the Lotus and I know what a stock M3 can do...this one did more.

I use to visit the SVT Performance site a lot, you don't want to mess with an 03 or 04 Cobra. I think even stock they would eat up an SRT6 pretty bad, but a modded one is nothing but pure MONSTER, it's unbelieveable what they'll do. I was wanting to buy an 03 that was fairly local to me with only 7K on it, better than show room new and had never even seen rain. It was modded big time, pushing 710 HP at the rear wheels, I could have picked it up for 30K. But my wife said I was not going to pay 30K for a car that didn't even have any warranty left on it. It really pi$$ed me off, so when I went looking for a new car I figured I would buy one she that she didn't like. I already knew she didn't like my 04 Xfire, sooo when I ran across the new SRT-6 .

 

Stock 03/04's would be a pretty good race. The good thing about mustangs, for the mustang owners, is that mods are a dime a dozen. You can push 500rwhp for around $1800 or less on one of those cars. SO, the BAD thing for us is that 95% of 03/04 cobras are NOT stock and will smoke us

I like them...I look at both of my 5.0's and dream at least once a week of doing a mod motor swap with the full 03/04 cobra drivetrain. Maybe some day...

The ride and handling of the New Edge SN95 mustangs isn't all that great, even with the IRS...that's where I feel the XFire takes the cake.

I know all to well what those Cobras can do. I have 3 friends that have them. One runs 10s, the other low 11s with a TURBO(got rid of the SC ) and the slow one runs 11.4s . I don't mess with Cobras... Now an '05+ GT is ripe for the picking...

 

Today I had a Blue GT blow past me trying to get me started but it was in town and in traffic so I declined. This is happening more and more as time goes on. Since I live and work here in a small town, I can only assume people have seen my car around and are wanted to test it out.

There are some funny stories on this thread. I would love to put a pully on my car but am concerned about the extended warranty so I have refrained. With the ASP pully, I would imagine there are not too many cars in my area that would stand a chance.

I believe I would be in the same boat with not purchasing the 03 Cobra without a warranty. My wife would have a fit. I guess I could see the logic in that mindset.

Ok, Ok, that's so far out left field it doesn't matter. What are the chances we would come up against THAT monster on the street. Pretty Sick though. Is it tubbed? 8 Second car?

 

It is/will be a street car but not a DD, so if your in Louisiana your chances might be pretty good. He is running a 15x10 so I don't think it's tubbed. He is finishing up the build and I believe shooting for high 8's. It should be pretty nasty when it's complete. 95% of the time I'd think we'd be alright against an 05+ I was JFWY.

There is a guy with a BONE STOCK suspension on a 10.5" tire running 7.80's now. That is down right amazing (this is in a fox stang, but still...). It launches straight and everything. I have trouble believing it is stock, but everyone who has seen it says it is.

Silly question:

WTF is a Lightning?

 

01-04 Ford F-150 Regular Cab 4x2 with a 5.4L SuperCharged and Intercooled V8. I think its rated at 365 HP. They can be just as nasty as the Cobras. This motor is also used in the Harley Davidson Crew Cab but only 345 HP.

 

They also made them in the pre-97 body style (1995?)...with a 351W, GT40 Heads and GT40 intake. Not nearly as fast, but still cool (and easily modded), and IMHO much better looking.
