Default Hi from a newbie

All the way from Northern Ireland and just bought a SRT 6. Looking forwards to picking it up from dealer on Wednesday.

I've been browsing through the forum and SRT 6 owners seem a very contented bunch. After two test drives I can understand why. What an amazing machine. I'm moving from a Jag X 2.5 Sport which was no slouch but is just not in the same league.

With the kids grown up and gone and my wife's car sitting unused I thought it was time to buy something of a hooligan. The SRT 6 fitted the bill and the price. Ex Dealer demonstrator with 4k miles for equivalent of US$ 45k. New over here the SRT 6 is about US$ 65k

With petrol at the equivalent of almost $8 per US gallon over here and road tax at $800 per year for high CO2 emissions; you can see why dealers are giving discounts. Same Chrysler/Dodge dealer has a Viper SRT 10 convertible sitting on the forecourt, brand new. UK list is equivalent of US$ 140k. Told me he would take $100k!

Maybe next time.

Anyhow, I will keep y'all posted and try and contribute regularly to the forum.

All the best,
Andy G

Aero Blue; looks stunning. Was going to get the luggage cover (it's a coupe) but dealer was looking $600 fitted. Seemed a bit steep. I can't find any good Chrysler accessory outlets in the UK but there may be US ones who ship internationally.

I'm going to get after market park sensors fitted. Looking out the rear I can see only sky.

WELCOME!!! You are in for the ride of your life my friend. If you thought a 2.5 X was no slouch, get ready for an eye opening experience. I've driven 2.5 Xs in the states, and found them a bit sluggish, but then again, I won't own a car with less than 300 HP.

Nothing can take me outside of myself except for driving my car. Lots of stress at home and at work but my baby makes me forget it all. Hope you find the same feeling!!!

Thank you all for the welcome.

The SRT 6 does send little shivers down the spine doesn't it?

I'm a true petrolhead, the shool run is long behind me and the weekly shop is consigned to my wife's Mazda. Mid Life Crisis? - You betch'a.

I love my new Aero Blue SRT6 as well.
Just got it 2 weeks ago.
So far, it has outmaneuvered my midlife crisis with grace and acceleration.

First Pic.

This is from the dealer's web site and shows her sitting on forecourt. What a beautiful machine.

Hmmm, is yours a 2006? I noticed that it has the fender badges that only the VERY few 2006s produced are supposed to have. Or, did you put SRT-SIX's custom ones on already. Could you tell us what those are and or give us a close up picture?

WELCOME TO THE PERPETUAL GRIN!

Hi NeverEnough,

She was first registered in Feb 2007 but this was by the dealer so probably an '06 build. It raises the question: do Chrysler still build them?

Local dealer said he couldn't order a new vehicle as he was unsure if any floor pans were still available. Maybe salesman speaks with forked tongue.

There's a lot of dealer registered Crossfires sitting unsold on forecourts in the UK because the cost of ownership, as opposed to the outright purchase price, over here is very high. I could only find two dealer-demonstrator SRT-6's: this one where I live and one in Edinburgh, Scotland.

I suppose the recent Daimler Chrysler divorce would have killed off this model eventually, due to the MB underpinnings. I get the feeling the motoring world will miss the Crossfire when it's no longer available and the SRT-6 will be seen as a classic but I'm buying one for the fun; not for the investment.

I'll send more pics when I collect her.

Andy, we may be on to something here. You never mentioned what year the car was. Is it a 2006? If you're not sure, just give us the last 8 digits of the VIN number. Also the Date Code would help as well. The Date Code is on the VIN plate on the door jam. It's on the Driver's side on US cars. If it is a 2006, you have one of only 13! We would really like to know, as we don't have anyone on this forum that I know of that have one of the "LUCKY 13." Now if it is and Right Hand drive, you may have 1 of 1! Could you get us a close up of the badge on the fender as well? Thanks, enjoy the car.

Hi Guys

Well, picked her up a few days early. She's in the driveway right now and I keep having to go out to have another peek, even though it's pitch dark over here.

Now to answer all those questions about age etc. The build date on the plate on the door jam is 01/06. There is another reference : MDH 011219 and the VIN is IC3APE9N96X067082. Now you gott'a bear in mind that all EU Xfires are made by Karmann in Germany so your database on VIN numbers may be a bit askew but the build date is accurate.

I asked the local dealer about other models and there are only 6x SRT6's in N.Ireland and 3 of those are roadsters.

It's not one of one but it's still a pretty rare item. I'll post pics at week end.

Regards

Andy G

Well, I think you underestimate the gravity of this. You have a Right Hand Drive 2006 Crossfire SRT-6. ONLY 13 2006 Crossfire SRT-6s were ever built before production was abruptly canceled. All 13 of the cars built were Coupes. Given that yours is 1 of 13 2006 SRT-6s AND Right Hand Drive, I'd be will to bet it's one of a kind. Take care of it and treat as a member of the family. It will be worth big money some years down the road. Take pride in the fact that you own the RAREST Crossfire on Earth!

We had been under the impression that none of them were sold to the public and were all used as corporate demos and or sold at auction after sitting in storage for over 1 year. Do you want to sell it? I'll trade you my 2005 Aero Blue SRT Coupe plus some $$$$

P.S. You might consider removing those Fender badges as there are only 13 sets of them in existance that I know of. There shouldn't be anything other than double sided tape holding them on. I would remove them and store them so they won't get damaged or weathered. They are not replacable to the best of my knowledge. And I have two good friends in the the British Isles that like road trips to "retrieve" things for me

Just Kidding, Enjoy your Crossy!
