I Autox'd and Road Raced the SRT6 in 100% stock form... I wouldn't even have that idea cross my mind for the GTO.
Really!?!?! I autox my GTO frequently, stock and now with the suspension mods I have done. What it lacked in handling prowess from the factory fit my driving style perfectly since I could just power rotate the vehicle. IMO, I like the feel and handling of the GTO over the xfire roadster I drive...its just easier to drive fast through a corner with my style of driving.

Well... the GTO era is over.... I traded in my 2005 GTO for a 2005 Infiniti G35 last night... the handling reminds me of the SRT6... A very well balanced car

You should consider getting your dealer's license if you're going to flip cars that quickly!

Why did you get rid of the GTO so quick?

It was a gas guzzler..... i was getting 11.7 mpg. 95% of my driving is city driving. I also wanted something that was a little more refined. Something that handled better then the GTO. Also, the Autostick in the SRT6 spoiled me... I would get so annoyed with the M6 in the GTO.

It was really no fault of the car persay. I'm just a point in my life where i guess my "likes" are changing... For short moments, there are things that i think i like... but in the end i change my mind... Lucky for me i'm in the position where i am able to change my mind and just get another car.

Damn fflores, most dealer will let you test drive them for a day or two. But I can't say too much. I went through a period like that a few years back. I think I went through 7 cars in 20 months...

NOW, you made the right choice. I've always loved the G35 coupe. But, you do know that you are insane? How are you going to take back all those great things you said about the Goat?

Aren't these basically a 350Z?

How usable is the back seat?

I've always liked the look of the G35 Coupe, much more than the 350z...but they were always quite pricey imho.

Nice car though! I like it better than the GTO!

Great choice. I loved my G35. The G37 is even sweeter.

It has a quick release i do believe... the rear seats appear to be more roomy then the GTO's were.

They are built on the same chasis as the Z's with the same engine/trans/suspension. Only the body and interior are different. I got mine for a decent deal of $25k w/18k on the clock.

Flo,

Nice move on getting rid of the Goat. I had one as well and it lasted about 2 months before I said screw this heavy *** slow thing! I also had a G35 and M45 and both are about 10x the car of the goat. The goat has all kinds of issues including strut rub, horrible brakes/handling and the gas mileage...I averaged a little over 13 mpg! I had headers/exhaust/tune and the it ran 13.6@99mph at byron. Nothing to brag about basically. The gto board i'm sure by now is really bashing you. I would help you out there but I was banned for telling everyone how much better of a sports car the SRT is.

Are you going to bring that G to byron next year? If so we can finally meet.

BTW infiniti of Lisle has great warranty repairs and service. They put a brand new motor in my M45 a few months ago because I complained it burned a little oil. It was only 3 months before the warranty was up and they gave me a brand new longblock which cost Infiniti 12K! I bet Pontiac would never ever do that!

The back seat is usable. I got rid of my 2005 G35 Coupe 6MT for the SRT6. It was a nice car, but unfortunately it and many others have oil consumption issues. I had 10,000 miles on mine and it was using more than a quart of oil for every 800 miles or so. The dealership did the prescribed oil consumption test and concluded there was a problem. Nissan came back and said that they are aware of the problem and are working towards a fix. Not sure how long that will take, but I didn't want to wait. I didn't feel like carrying a box of oil around in a car that I bought brand new for almost 40 grand. I know at least 15 others who have already had their engines changed. Check out the forums at
www.g35driver.com. Just search for oil consumption. Lucky for you, most of the problems are with the RevUp VQ engines in the 6 speed cars. They are the only ones with the higher performance 298 hp engines. The automatics have the 280 hp version. Good luck, keep checking the oil!!

You Sir... Needed a driver mod... My buddy with only a Catback and canned tune went 13.1 on stock 18's... When we did our CSC/Viper day track event at byron (which you were too much of a pansy to come out too ) he went 12.80 with the Catback/Tune/AIT relocation/pedder drag springs... He just added a set of Kooks LT's and a better tune, so things should be around 12.5's on his stock 18's.

Was the GTO heavy? yes! mine came in at 3750lbs on the scale at Byron with little gas in it. Did the handling suck? I wouldn't go that far... but it wasn't anything "sporty". Gas mileage? mine = 11.7mpg. I wouldn't say that the SRT6 > GTO... Of course there are nutswingers and fanboi's in both area's, they are just 2 different types of coupe "sport" cars.

I already have a small issue with the car... one of the HID's went out last night... which should be covered under warrenty. I will have to join a couple of G35 forums too read up and any other possible issues.... I might also complain about the brakes, as they are pretty loud... but that just might be a function of the large rims/small side wall tires.

I rather go to "Gold Coast Infiniti" here in chicago, but if service is better out in Lisle. I just might have to give them a call.

That 13.6 was with a 2.0 60 ft and it was an automatic. Not really much to screw up on with an auto. I have the run on video if you care to analyze....

I'm on the left and was racing a 6 speed with the same mods.

Again, nice job on the getting the G35. That is a car you will be happy with for A LONG TIME!

I had the full aero package in addition to the 6MT package that comes with limeted slip dif, sport suspension, the 19s, and etc.

As for the brakes, my pads were ready for replacement at 10k miles. This is another common issue with this car. The tires needed to be replaced also. No, I didn't hotrod the car. These are common issues. You'll know when it's time because things get really noisy and the vibes are annoying.
