Default New Top Speed In SRT 6

I know a few people may think I'm crazy, but there's a nice 2 and a half to 3 mile stretch of road I take to breakfast early Sunday mornings, you are coming down off a hill and can see for miles. I like to open it up once in awhile when the coast is clear on this road. I had the speedometer up to 180 mph this morning, the tac was at 5,800 RPM and the car was solid as a rock, still pulling hard when I let off. With the car having 285's on the back, I would have been running 186 mph. Renntech tuned my ECU for 93 octane, I run 94 octane and they raise my redline to 6,200 RPM so I do think an SRT6 will hit the 200 mph mark, I got this following statement from a tire size calculator. --- When speedometer reads 60 mph (96.6 km/h) actual speed will be 62 mph (99.8 km/h): 3.3% faster. When speedometer reads 60 mph (96.6 km/h) actual speed will be 62 mph (99.8 km/h): 3.3% faster.

Steve...AWESOME. You need to get a dyno / .25 mile time on that car. I just sold my boat and may have some money burning a hole in my pocket for a renntech kit. Wish I had some hard numbers to go by, or at least someone nearby who could take me for a ride in one.

Hey, I have had mine for 4 days now and last night I had it up to 95 mph coming back from Manhattan. You're right, it's great!

Really running one up to those kinds of speeds isn't something I do a lot, that's only the 3rd time I've had it past 110 -120. If a guy got stopped at that kind of speed, he had better hope the cop has a very good since of humor - tell him his radar guns got to be broke, it's only got a little six cylinder in it. I've hardly really driven the car much (2,100), but I'm going to ask the guy that lives behind me about where is the closest place to get a dyno done. He builds race engines and has for years, people from states away have him do their engines. He has a dyno that he uses regularly, but it's a direct engine mount (BTW I LOVE IT WHEN HE CRANKS ONE UP). He also runs the local 1/8 mile strip on the weekends, I just happened to see his wife in town the other night and asked her how much of the racing season they had left. She said it's thinned out a lot lately, people were starting to go to the bigger tracks and that her husband was thinking about remodeling to a 1/4 mile strip.

I would never do those kinds of speeds with any other cars on the road to put anybody else at risk, that's why I like the road I've done that on. Coming down off the hill you can see for miles to no there's not other cars on the road.

If your going that fast you don't stop - he can't catch you. Just look out for spike strip going 180 MPH (it can get nasty real quick), get out of site, make a left or right, get down the road at speed limit, wait, U-turn and go back the way you came. He'll still be haulin in a straight line.

That's an awesome speed, and would be an awesomely horrific accident if ANYTHING went wrong. lived out your way for 11 years (Iowa/Ill) know the roads can be clear and straight, made a run to Montana about 8 years ago in a '97 Audi cab. had the cruise set to 115 for hours - until I got the ticket - in S. Dakota - thing that saved the day the audi had a red top - and trooper was amazed that anyone would buy such color - ticket at 95. Now own a Lmtd roadster and have hit 127. But, here in VA anything 10 mph over posted speed is reckless and ticket is $1,000 plus - at 100 mph - you go to jail and pay thru the nose.
Only applies to instate lic. - so those of you out of staters just passing thru get the "normal' ticket.

Stay safe - want to keep ya part of the forum.

That is an Awesome Speed! I get nervous when it hits 120+, but it just wants to keep going, I slow down so I can Keep Going!

I've seen 163 In my '05 roadster limited...(big long straight road in northern Mi, state trooper buddy clocking me on radar)!

I have no doubt that a SRT-6 can easily get over 180!

Given all the aerodynamic tuning done on these cars, you'd expect them to be stable as hell at speed!

Steve - I wonder what your 0-60 time is now w/the Renntech.

Yeah, I know that's pretty crazy, but you only live once, but then again you only die once too. Getting caught going that fast here in Indiana I would probably lose my license for ten year's and as someone else posted, It would be an awful big crash. As for the 0-60, now that I've finally got this thing to get a little bite on the road (Springs & Bigger Tires), I'm going to check out getting to a track. There aren't any 1/4 mile tracks close to where I live or I'd already been there done that.

Steve,

Purchase (or borrow) a GTech - it gives relatively accurate data as far as 1/4 mile, 0-60, etc.

As a comparison I will see if I can get a Vmax run in my Limited Coupe on the long final straight at the Nurburgring next week when I am over there. The most I've had it up to was 145-150 a couple of years ago on the autobahn and there still felt like quite a bit to come and it was absolutely rock steady, I only had to lift because of traffic. I'll be running with an RX8 PZ, so it will be good to see how they compare.

Yeah, I've looked at a few different model's of those and was wondering how accurate they were, I just didn't pursue it any farther. You wouldn't happen to know what the best model is and the cheapest place to get one would you?

How is it possible... I thought these were computer limited at 160? I took mine up to 160 and it seemed to pull really hard right up to it but stopped pulling at 160... did I just not wait long enough or do you guys have something removing the computer limit?

I'm looking into the MSD Dash hawk. It records 0-60 plus quarter mile times. The best part is the parameters that this thing can monitor. I just have to get under the dash and make sure it is CAN compliant. I believe it is around $300 bucks.
