New Top Speed In SRT 6

There is a big bicycle race going on down by the coast (Amgen tour of California - (The Company I work for sponsers the #2 team in the world -- "Team CSC")
Anyway - I knew that the race would take almost all the available Highway Patrol Officers to run this huge race thru the area so I figured it's a good day for a high speed run if I went out to the desert.
Conditions: Flat, two lane road - blacktop - in excellent condition - (no place for a CHP to hide)
I dialed Mohave Airport AWOS prior to the run -
Temp: 10.2 Deg C - - 50.4 deg F
Dew Point: 0.3 Deg C - - 32.5 deg F
Relative Humidity: 53%
Skies: OVC 080
Altimeter: 30.04 in mercury
Corrected elevation 2,358 feet ASL
Run one = 165MPH
Run two = 170MPH
It felt like the SRT could do more but I needed time to reach top speed and road was running out. But at least now I know that SpeedInnovation raised my speed limiter.
I forgot my camera at home (about a 1 1/2 drive) but didn't think I could take pictures at that speed - guess what - this car is rock solid and I could have steered the car with one hand and snapped a pictures with the other - next time I promise to remember the camera and perhaps some spotters with a camcorder....

O.K.....I wasn't going to say anything about this, as it might get me laughed off the forum, but here goes.....Last week I was on my way over to a buddies place, I had to take a stretch of road to get the expressway. This piece of "road", if you want to all it that, was soo full of GIANT holes that it was all I could do to stay on the road. Here I am just creeping down a 50 MPH road at about 30. Cop pulls up and hits the light, I pull over thinking WTF? He comes up to the window and I'm ready with the license, registration, and insurance. Cop asks if I know why I'm being stopped, to which I answer "I have no idea". He says I was going TOO SLOW, and was a danger to traffic as nobody would be expecting me to be travelling so slow on that stretch of road! I didn't get a ticket.....just a warning.
I reeeeaaallly felt like telling him if he was so worried about the public safety he'd pick up a damn shovel and start filling in the craters in the road, but I just bit my lip and kept quiet!
Any of you michiganders in the area.....avoid Van Dyke road north of 16 mile. You'll spend more time avoiding holes than looking at the idiots driving around you! If you ever wanted to know what it's like driving in a shelled out town....try Sterling Heights!

It will be about another month before I get my little blue monster out of it's hibernation for the winter. I'm still looking for somewhere to try the 200 mark leagally, but if I don't I'll take a camera with me next time I make a top speed attempt.
Just my Dos Centavos !

Had mine to 163 before it just stopped pulling........weird feeling, that limiter. A nice long straightaway with mucho visibility on both sides. No crossroads for miles as this particular highway crosses a river & its extensive bottomlands. Only a deer.........

Apkano, I salute your intestinal fortitude in somehow managing to keep your mouth disengaged. It's galling too 'cause know they're just waiting for the spring.
Yeah, they'll pull over the Xfire driver but ignore the gray hairs in the Buick.

LOL....yea, I've tried the speaking-my-mind bit before......It never ended up good! Usually it ends with a nice set of jewelry for my wrists and a free tour of the city in one of their finest vehicles!

I think we should all (SRT6 and other) post our "top speed" stories.
I would love to hit 190MPH and have a video for the archive....

Sorry about getting waaaaay off subject here but had to rant a bit......
Problem with getting a video of the drive would be attempting to peel both hands off of the wheel while doing 150+!

I was just wondering what the difference was in the tach readings between a stock size tire & a 285 witch is about an inch taller.
