Default Price of Extended Warranty

What's the going price of the Maximum Care 7/70,000 warranty for a SRT-6 roadster? Any examples out there?

Thanks Silverfox,

Has anyone been able to a better price thru a dealership than what's posted on chryslerwarrants.com? Maybe thru haggling ? I've heard the markup on these are very high but I'm having no luck finding a dealer willing to drop the price off of $1,730 for a 7/70,000 Max Care.

The XF I purchased had high mileage (>45K) so the warranty I was offered was 5 years or 50K miles from the day I bought it. It is the Chrysler MaxiCare warranty that covers 5,004 parts, includes free rental car if the repair takes longer than a day (I've had them as long as 5 days waiting for diagnostics/parts/repairs), and has a $100 deductible. It was $1,600. I have these extended warranties on my Sebring Convertible and Pacifica, too. In the past 3 years, I've spent $205.47 on car repairs and was charged for a rental car only once ($35). For some reason, the dealer keeps "forgetting" about the deductible.

Thanks Fenwick,

I've heard dealers won't always charge the deductible so the $100 plan is a better value. What do you have to spend the $305.47 on? I thought everything was cover with the Max Care plan.

Oops, my mistake. I have edited my post to $205.47. Twice I was charged the deductible and once I was charged $5.47 to replace some fuse (must have been considered a "wear item"). One time the deductible was charged for some work on my Sebring Convertible and once on the Crossfire, which included replacing the Infinity radio that wasn't working and the cam sensor. The cam sensor caused the Check Engine light to come on intermittently. Don't tell anybody but I was "running" with a BMW M5 at 110 mph when it came on the first time. Actually, the car seems to be running much better since it the cam sensor was replaced.

If it s a "new" 2005 SRT-6 I would only recommend you look at simply certifying it...you get 7/70 or 8/80 (I forget which) for around $500 and it covers the powertrain...granted not as much as MaxCare (or whatever its called) but a lot cheaper and covers the expensive stuff...

I believe the cheapest place is chryslerservicecontracts.com

Does anyone know whether or not you can 'cancel' one of these warranties and get the pro-rated balance refunded to you, even if you DON'T sell your car?

I got my warranty at the same price as the website listed above. However, my co-worker who bought his car from the same dealer at the same time as me, got 'gouged' by his finance guy and didn't know any better. He paid almost twice as much for the same warranty as I got. The only reason I didn't get gouged was because I knew better and called his bluff.

So, I'm wondering if my co-worker can cancel his warranty for a pro-rated refund, and purchase it himself online. He just bought the car on Saturday, for what it's worth.

Thanks,
Shawn

I know Chrysler offers 100% refundable Max Care warranties for about 15% more than the standard ones. The catch is - you receive the full refund if you had no claims and the timeframe has expired. Example - 5/50 warranty with a 1/1/05 in service date. On 1/1/2010 if you have not exceeded 50K miles and have had no warranty repairs, you receive 100% of your purchase price of the warranty back.
