$26,900 for a '05 Crossfire SRT6???
$26,900 for a '05 Crossfire SRT6???
Hello, I'm looking at buying a 2005 Crossfire SRT6 Roadster with 17k miles and it great looking condition from a dealer with a "Sale" sticker price of $28,900. We asked our sales guy to have them give us a better price. The car has been on their lot for over 2 months and I gave them several other reasons from having to find a "certified" Crossfire Technician to work on a "discontinued" model, to, they can't offer a "Certified Chrysler Warranty". So when our sales guy returned back to us after we sat around for about a 1/2 hour, and they weren't busy at all (I believe they were looking up more information on this make and model) he returned with the same figure of $28k. To cut it short, we spent about 1 1/2 hrs there and finally left. When I returned home I had an email from the sales guy stating that they are will to take it down to $26K.
So this is where I am asking if this is a good deal or not. I've done a little research on this car. And am a bit nervous about getting a car that was hard to sell and don't make anymore. But after driving it today, I fell in love. Any advise out there would be appreciated.
Thanks.

If you’re buying a car knowing you will be selling it few years down the road, a Crossfire may not be the best choice. Like the stock market, it is unknown if the Crossfire has hit bottom and if it has, will it rebound. But what cars really do hold their value any more?
$26K for a used SRT seems pretty high seeing that there still new SRT-6's with less then 100 miles also known as "Factory Reduction Cars" being sold for around $25K (that’s what I paid for mine). These are going fast but are still out there. Depends on how bad and how far your willing to travel to get one.
Look in the "cars for sale" section of this forum, both dealers and individuals have listed some pretty good deals.

If bottom line price is your main driver and you are willing to travel to get the best deal then keep shopping.

You could fly out to Texas...get one from Bonham (where I got mine) and drive it back or ship it. They have never-titled SRT6s around $25,9K. It would probably be around the same price, but you'd have a "new" car. That's pretty high mileage for that price. That should be somewhere around $23K if you compare nationally. I would not give them more than $24K after TTL.
Hold on to it if you get it!

Yes, that is a good Price, if you can't get a lower miles one for that price. They seem to have bottomed out in price, at least the SRT6 Roadsters & they may be going UP Soon? (IMHO) SRT6 Roadster go for $5-7,000+ more than the coupes. A number of Dealers that still have any under 100 mile SRT6 Roadsters are holding pretty tight at $32,900 & above. When I was dealing with them, it told days to just get them down $1,000 on one of those at $33,500.

I say if the dealer gives you the 8/80 certified warranty - buy it - keep it - and be happy.
You will have a rare - hot looking - rip snorting sports car that will always have spare parts and repair shops.
Check the ones on ebay going for $18.5K + add $1K for enclosed shipping to SD and then ask if $6.5K extra is worth paying for a roadster.
But I say go get one if you are going to keep it. These cars are bad a$$ and fun to drive.
Get ready for expensive oil changes, tires and brakes, but well worth it IMO.

Even with 17K miles I think that's a pretty good deal. See if you can get the 8 yr/80K mile warranty thrown in.
Who is the dealer and what is the color?
If you buy it you will be the third known person in San Diego to have an SRT-6. A city with a population of a million.

Forever 35,
I love these cars as much as anyone on this forum, but I have NEVER seen a 3 year old car appreciating. Even the amazing cars that have bounced back and have been increasing in value take 10 years before that happens. A used car appreciating in value within 5 years of sale has never happened to my knowledge. The best that could happen, and I can only think of one car that has ever done it ('93 - '95 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo) would be to drop to about here, hold at this value for a while, then start to appreciate 10 or so years from now. And that is one out of thousands and thousands. That being said, if history is to be trusted, these things are going to be worth a mint twenty years from now for many many reasons. Not the least of which is that they rock. Now let's not give folks looking to us for advice because of our knowledge false hopes and just tell the facts. They are a great performance value at this price, they are a blast to own and unique, and in a couple decades they will be worth some serious coin. Just my opinion. I still plan on buying one in the next month or two FWIW.
