Having owned a Z06, GTO, Boxster, Audi TT, STi and a few other sporty cars I have to say the SRT causes the most trouble when it comes to others wanting to race. The Z06 everybody was afraid of but for some reason the SRT is something most people think they can just beat on...

I had a VR4 try me on 88 East today and lose badly. It just seems nobody expects to be beat on by the ol crossfire.

 

I had a few races... the best was when an old c320 tried to race a friend of mine in his subaru outback who was behind me and he saw that my friend was driving crazy... keeping up with me, but he did not see me...

So he pulls up to my friends side and says race me... my friend points at me... that was a good one...

Raced an SL recently... as well... and a bmw 3 series coupe... don't know what engines either of them had as I did not get a chance to notice, but neither of em held on what's so ever...

People around here don't seem to have any clue what it is. I've only ever seen 2 other SRT-6s in my area EVER, and I live in a metropolitan area of almost 1.5 million. I don't even get any looks from the Ricers (I thought Huge Rear Wings demanded their ATTENTION!). I'm usually the one trying to start something, cause no one will start it for me...

Of course regardless of who starts it, we all know the outcomes.

 

Maybe they think its a regular Crossfire, that's why they want to race all the time. Maybe these people should look for the SRT6 fixed wing and SRT badge, but then it's too late!

 

Are you sure it aint the other way around?

Well dont feel too bad. All of the local kids just seem to think my ltd crossfire is the mark to beat. Its not an srt but it sure seems to have fun eating all the locals. They are all too afraid to race my cobra and seem to think that the crossfire is an easy mark? Just love the engineering in the drivetrain of this car. I can say however I had an older gentleman in his MB want to race and well, I had him across the intersection until that 5.5 AMG kicked in. lol But we both stopped chatted and he had to admit he still wants a crossfire even with his mb, now thats saying something.

Ps - Please forgive me for tapping into the SRT room, just saw the post and can understand the feeling.

I live out in Montgomery, IL...even got the Renntech Kit...but could never get anyone to race me. Much different story in my 350z when I lived near Schaumburg.

 

Well, my last two cars were Neon SRT-4s with a "fare" amount of work done to them(one ran 11s). I decided to grow up a little and moved up to the SRT-6, but it is taking some getting use to not having to look around at a stoplight to see what fool is gonna try and step up to the plate. At first it was a relief, but now I miss it. I have one of the large SRT stickers that they put on the SRT Track Experience Cars. As tacky as it is, I actually thought about putting it at the top of the rear window...

That would get their attention. Its only about a foot long, bright and colorful...

 

I can see the GTO, Boxster, and the Audi TT...but owning the Z06 and STi?...must have been really bad drivers. Friends have both cars, and they are an even match with our cars...

 

I'm getting personalized plates to show what it is.

 

those are cars he's had in the past. not cars that he's "pwnd" he's simply stating that the SRT6 just gets a lot more attention then the other cars he's had.

Right on...owned not "owned". And I would say my Z06 was definitely faster than the SRT. Nothing a few mods could not take care of though...

 

You are right about a C6 ZO6. The STI on the other hand is NOT a match. I've run 2 of them on the highway from around 45-100 and beat both of them... Off the line maybe, but you'll catch them.

 

We have to get together some time. I'm in Elgin and work in Carol Stream.

 

I drive a lot in my SRT here in chicago and rarely get anyone to race me, although i don't actively go out and look for races... I did run a Evo on the highway and played cat and mouse for a while, when we finally get to some open road, I hit it and left him behind. Evo's and STi's for the most part from a roll unless really modded aren't too much.

 

Count me in on a meet. I am in Aurora.

 

Even my old C5 Z06 would put a hurting on the SRT/6. Nothing a few mods won't fix...
