Re: 2006 Srt6
Welcome to the forum. Is this the car you purchased?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chrys...92765098QQrdZ1
Would you mind telling what you got it for?
I think you got a rare 2006 SRT.

If you do some searches on the site, you'll see what Daimler Chrysler has said regarding 2006 SRT6s and SRT6 production. Seeing the one on ebay last week had a bunch of us bugging out.
Where are you located? Many of the members get together etc.
Congrats and welcome.
Re: 2006 Srt6
I wonder if it's possible that DC just changed the model year at a certain point. It's only 3,795 units away from the highest number that we've seen on this sight or RPM's list. Could DC just have taken the very last of the SRT's to be built and just changed the paperwork and invoices to say they are 06's instead of 05's? I've read that AMG wasn't going to make anymore of the 3.2 S/C engines, and that was the leading cause of the production run being ended. They can still make Limited's because they have a Mercedes engine, not the AMG hand built one.
Just my thoughts on the subject.

McCombcliff - do you know the build date for your new ride? I think it is located on the driver door sill or inside of the door itself (someone pls correct me if I'm wrong).

We are trying to get a handle on as many SRT6s as possible to keep track for reference and collectibility potential, etc.
One of our forum members has one of the first SRT6s and one has the last (from all of the data collected so far).
Forum member SRT SIX keeps track of all of the forum members' SRT6s and I gather info from other sources (ebay, cars.com, etc.) to get the bigger picture.
Re: 2006 Srt6
FWI: The VIN and the Build # (MDH******) do NOT have the same differences between them, relative to each other.
Example: Car #1 VIN: 44861 Build # MDH092221
Example: Car #2 VIN: 44409 Build # MDH092003
A difference of 452 in the VIN, but only 218 difference in the Build#.
This example is from two real cars that are on ebay. I have noticed that the difference in Build# is ALWAYS smaller than the difference in VIN. Just compare you own VIN and Build # (MDH******) with another member on this forum and see what I mean. Any thoughts?
Car #2 VIN: 44409 MDH092003
Car #3 VIN: 43201 MDH090817
Difference: 1208 1186
Car#3 is of ebay also.
The Build # is on the door jam sticker and is shown to the right of the VIN.

Re: 2006 Srt6
I am told by a Chrysler dealer who recently got it from a Chrysler rep:
1.) there are SRT-6 cars labeled as model year 2006.
2.) they are carryover cars from the 2005 build year.
3.) all the 2006 Crossfires have (retrofitted in the US) new tires, battery and fuel pump (because they were sitting for so long).

Re: 2006 Srt6
Well - after another flood of emails and phone calls to DCX, I got another call back regarding 2006 SRT6s, production, etc.
It was actually the same guy I spoke with almost a month ago.
Here is what he told me (I'm not saying it's the 100% truth, just what he said):
There were a very limited number of 2006 SRT6s produced. They were all roadsters (he thought) and were 'test quality vehicles' which were originally not to be sold to customers, but a decision was made to do so.
He has heard that there may be a 2007 model Crossfire (didn't specify whether base/limited/SRT6) but as of now, no decision has been made.
He had no production numbers/figures available at this time.
He also said that if you look on chrysler.com - you can build and price a 2006 SRT6 roadster. I just looked and did not see it.
I told him that the differing information provided to the public by DCX was ridiculous and very confusing. He didn't say anything.
This is nuts. I am tempted to sell mine and go with something else. It is scary to see how messed up they are concerning the Crossfire (plus the lack of service techs) and its only 2007. What's it going to be like a few years down the road?

Re: 2006 Srt6
Thanks for the update...I will actually pick up the car in Pittsburgh and drive it back to Michigan on Friday. I'll be able to answer some of the questions at that time...build data...2006 manuals...etc. The Carfax I ran indicated the car was shipped to Baltimore from Belgium in late November 2006.

Re: 2006 Srt6
I don't think there is any way to change VIN numbers after it's been produced because if you look in the engine bay behind the engine the VIN number is etched into the body (maybe the engine block too??)...now I'm no genius but if they produced an '05 with an '05 VIN it would be kind of hard to change that VIN that's etched in there unless they sanded it down completely and repainted it.
I'm guessing it's a legit '06.
