SRT6 Serial Numbers - Original thread closed
re: SRT6 Serial Numbers - Original thread closed
Two days ago I brought a very clean 18K miles SRT-6 in Orange County. Had researched XF's since late Oct '06. I rarely see one in North County (San Diego), and the dealers there tend to jack up the price for higher mileage cars. The vehicle came with the illuminated door stills and a very nice wood covering of the center console, glove box, door's, and lighting controls...very nice looking. It as all the books, both key fobs...even if I had to ask for it, NAV, but not the luggage. Everything worked and the car shows the former owner really took care of it. Dealer originally wanted $29,000. Carfax showed the former owner took care of some issues noted in this form and our cousin forum CrossfireCommunity.com. Paid $24,700 and they paid off my '04 Toyota Solara ($16,100).
I brought the vehicle because I loved the looks and while the Solara was a great car, it was not fun to drive. I also have a '03 C5 that I drive on the weekends, but the XF will be my work ride.
Serial #050403, Graphite Metallic, with black interior.
Other rides '65 Ford Fastback and Kawi Contour and Nomad motorcycles

What do you think of the power of the SRT6 compared you your C5?

re: SRT6 Serial Numbers - Original thread closed
64172 is a 2006 SRT-6 coupe?
What about the one numbered just before, 64171? Is that a 2006 also?
Does the first digit (6) mean its a 2006?
Does the next numbered car (64173) have to be a 2006 ?
Have we found out how many 2006 SRT-6 coupes and roadsters are out there?

As of yet, no one knows for sure how many 2006 SRT6s there are. One forum member heard there were around 100 of them. We are still unsure if these 2006 SRT6s are part of the 2016 SRT6 coupes and 928 SRT6 roadsters made, or if they are additional numbers.
A few of us have tried to get production numbers from Chrysler thought submitting questions through Chrysler.com and AskDrZ.com.
There is a thread on here somewhere with the original email from a Chrysler tech stating the 2016 and 928 numbers. I spoke to a tech a month or so ago and he said while he could not comment on the exact numbers, 2016 and 928 were "very close."

I'm sure you've gone over this stuff many times. So, sorry to have you answer again, but how do you know the first one and the second one are roadsters? and for that matter, how do you know the third in the sequence is a coupe? what will the fourth be? will there be a fourth?
Several weeks ago I spoke to a woman at Chrysler who gave me the exact same production numbers for the SRT-6: 2016 coupes, 928 convertibles. She also gave me the following for the 2005 model year:
coupe convertible
Base 1155 1524
Limited 5014 11,878

A couple of months ago I spoke with a 'Mike' at Chrysler HQ. I had a lot of questions regarding SRT6 production and breakdowns that nobody else w/Chrysler could answer. He said he did not have exact production numbers yet, but they would eventually be posted at SRTforums.com, along with prod data for the other SRT models. He also assured me that the production figures were 'very close' and that there were no 2006 SRT6s.
Fast forward a month. A 2006 SRT6 roadster pops up on ebay. Sure enough the 10th VIN digit was a 6 (one of our forum members bought it, I think his name is McCombcliff?). Anyway, I sent another scathing email through Chrysler.com about being told there were no 2006 SRT6s and how there is one for sale on ebay. By the time I got a call back from Chrysler, there had been 3 2006 SRT6s on ebay, all from the same dealer in PA (I think). When I got the call back, it was Mike again. I went on and on about how it was supposed to be a 2005 model year car only, etc. He said that they were never going to sell the 2006s that they had since they were test mules of some sort (Not sure what he meant by test cars or test mules), but someone decided to sell them. He did tell me that there were very few of them.
I would bet that the 2006 SRT6s were not built in 2006, but late in 2005. Not for sure though.
I have a large database of SRT6s that I have been collecting over the past couple of months. I'm up to ~340 now. I track the last 6 digits of the VIN, color, model year, and whether it is a coupe or roadster. So far myself, and anyone else I know who is looking, has only seen the 3 2006 SRT6s listed above.
That's all I know so far.

Cliff is trying to get the "story" on the three cars. They came from the marketing/PR department as I understand it, probably ordered for auto shows and marketing brochures before decision to stop production was made. We are having problems insuring them, since the insurance computers don't recognize a 2006 SRT-6 as a "real" model.
Sort of "the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing" thing. We will probably have to persuade chrysler to make them "real" (which is why they originally weren't going to "sell them" - but somebody probably wanted to reduce their budget/inventory). Just my guesses but I think this story is going to get more interesting as time goes on.
Stay tuned for the continued adventures.

To RPM -
1. I appreciate your tracking the cars. I think that's helpful for all of us. But if you just log the last six Vin #'s how do you know which model year is the car? I understood that was the 8th digit from the end.
2. my understanding is that all three 2006 cars were not bought from the same Chrysler dealer.
3. I also hear it was not a Pa. dealer.
4. Yes, all three were made in 2005. At least one, september.

VIN = 056182, Model Year = 2005, Color = Black, Model = Roadster (it's in Excel with headers for VIN, etc.)
2. The two 2006 roadsters were listed with the same seller (dealer) on ebay. The seller's name was lexusis300r6 in PA. I believe that each car never made it to auction end, they were pulled off (probably sold locally). Here is one of the roadsters when it was on ebay:

The 2006 coupe was on Cars.com in WI:

3. The ebay seller with the 2006 roadsters is listed to be in Greensburg, PA. The coupe was in WI (my mistake if I said otherwise EDIT - and I did, sorry).

FOR SALE - 2005 SRT-6 coupe. vin: 47469.
Aero Blue, 180 miles. Michelin Pilots. No NAV. Factory warranty until March 2010. Not a scratch. Hey, it hasn't even been driven yet! $28,500 seem fair?
Having had experience with another car, I bought the 2006 SRT-6 coupe mentioned in the Forum: machine grey vin: 64173.
If you know of someone who may be interested, please let them know a CrossfireForum fanatic has a clean (new) car for sale. THANKS !
Looks like Innercool just got the last of the triplets. It will be interesting to see if any more 2006 SRT's come out of the woodwork.
