The End of the Line?
The End of the Line?
In another thread (https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ad.php?t=11901), porterhouse reported that "According to the new issue of Road and Track, 'The supercharged 330 bhp SRT-6 version of the Crossfire are gone, but the normally aspirated 215 bhp 3.2 liter V-6 soldiers on in coupe and convertible form.'" If R&T is correct, which makes sense since AMG has recently moved away from V6s and is going to all NA engines, then the '05 SRT6 will be the only model year made.
If the production run is really over for the SRT6, we should probably get accurate figures from DCX to confirm the total for the line. That information could come in handy later. Any suggestions?

It seems that the only info DCX ever publishes routinely is sales for the U.S. Unfortunately,
they don't break down monthly or yearly sales by model year or by engine or body style.

Official calendar year production numbers from Karmann:
2003 Coupe: 18,470 - Roadster: 19 - Total 2003 = 18,489
2004 Coupe: 19,426 - Roadster: 16,250 - Total 2004 = 35,676
2005 Coupe: 4,126 - Roadster: 8,329 - Total 2005 = 12,455
Total Coupe: 42,022 - Roadster: 24,598 - Grand Total = 66,620
Re: The End of the Line?
Thanks JM. I did remember your previous post, and I also remembered that it didn't break out SRTs from LTDs or base models, and that it appeared to deal with production years rather than model years. Anything you can find on those more specific distinctions would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks again.

Re: The End of the Line?
Thanks; that's helpful information.
FYI, rob265 in the UK recently posted that he bought VIN #83,110 (the new machine grey color; he uploaded pictures of the difference) and that it was manufactured in August 2005. That VIN seems strange in light of your report that only 66,620 units were manufactured through calendar year 2005, assuming that the VINs progress in an orderly and uninterrupted sequence. With the Crossfire, though, it seems that almost everything is strange...
