Hey Team:

I was stoked to find this forum - this thread has been particularly helpful. My SRT-6 has been sluggish for a few months now, with 17K miles on her. Today, I got smoked by a Pontiac G6 when she decided to peter out on me. Embarrassing to say the least--I had to pretend like I wasn't trying to race to avoid looking like an idiot. Needless to say, I finally had the catalyst I needed to look into getting her fixed.

Hope the dealer will be willing to listen to reason. Thanks all!

I also have the same problem and have been reading the forums diligently for solutions....and I don't have a SRT6...but a 2006 Limited Coupe. Mine is at the dealer for the 3rd time...already replaced the gas pedal, and some sensors.....they claim they have never seen the problem before....

Hello everybody!

I'm also expiriencing this sluggishness. Not sure what I should do seen as how I bought my xfire used from a chevy dealer. It's an 05 srt6 with 17k when I bought it I paid 19k. This problem sucks. I got passed by a mustang gt and was helpless. How embarrassing.

Your problem sounds like the IC pump. It happened to me and many of the people with SRTs here. Do a search for IC pumps and read the descriptions and see if that doesn't fit your car. My pump gave me notice before crappin out by giving me a "surge" feeling when accellerating at times. Most guys and gals have gone to TVT designs, LET, or another dealer on the forum for the "johnson pump" as a replacement. Hope this helps and welcome to the group.

Hey Punkin thanks a lot! The description fits my car exactly. I'm going to a Chrysler dealership tomorrow to see if they will fix it. May be they can order the johnson pump and replace it with that, probably not though. Thank again!

Rich, when I went to the dealer mine was under warranty so they did not listen to my diagnosis. They changed the temp sensor, computer, and messed around till I begged them to at least "check" the pump. 1 hour later they called me to say I was correct and come pick it up. I don't think the dealer will install the johnson pump for you. I haven't done it but after the warranty is over I will do it myself. There are plenty of threads that will instruct you how its done if your handy that way. I also don't believe the pumps are a perfect swap and fit but don't take much to make it work.

Good luck!

I have to report that my dealer (that has otherwise been very competent) did the same as Punkin's (except for the part where they replaced the pump), even though I gave them a pile of documentation from the forum about the problem. They diagnosed the problem as a Temp sensor and replaced it. It was not unexpected based on what I had heard from others. I was not very disappointed because they would have just installed another pump destined for early failure.

I ordered a Johnson pump from LET and popped it in. It is a very simple job. The hardest part of the install was figuring out how to pull off the inner fender access panel.

So, is there any sure-fire way to be sure your supercharger is functioning properly?

I don't know, they replaced sensor on mine some time ago, and I haven't had any problems, but I have a Johnson pump on order just in case...my dealer swore the pump was fine, just the temp sensor was bad...it does run fine...but I think I will install the johnson when it gets here....

Hey everyone, I've had my car at the dealership for 6 days now and just got it back today. It accelerates great in the city. I took it out on the highway and WOW nothing but disappointment, soooooo sluggish. The dealership replaced the "Inter rec air pump" and the "intake air temp sensor". Oh and they were kind enough to let take a KIA spetra as a loaner. What a winner. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. CYA

Just print out this thread and take it to them. Change the intercooler pump. You can do it yourself if they don't get it. LET has an aftermarket and the bosch ford lighting pump is the same pump. You just switch tops from yours to that one. Check ebay around $80 bucks.

Turned 7,000 miles last night on the way home from Woodward and my IC pump went out.
Went to merge on to I-75 and had no power. Then it would go in and out the whole way home.
I'm debating on taking it to the dealer since it is still under warranty or replacing it myself. Hmmm.

Hey guys, I got my car back from the dealership last week. This is the 2nd time it has been at the dealership for this problem. They replaced the IC pump and some senors. The car is just as fast now as when I first bought it. Finally no more embarrassing moments! Thanks for all the advice guys.

Having the same issue with my 05 srt6. sluggish acceleration. just got the phone call from the dealership and they are replacing a "Auxillary Coolant Pump" and are looking at the transmission, as they seem to think that the sluggish/delayed response is the tranny. However after reading this thread perhaps the pump was the issue after all. They are replacing it because it was making a high pitched whine type noise.

Question for you folks that have had the IC pump go out:
Did the IC pump make a chirping type noise, kind of like a cricket?
Mine is going out sometimes, but it is not out all of the time. Just got back from a quick drive, ~10 miles, and it went out a couple of times at ~70mph.
Pulled into the garage and I heard some chirping. Seems like it is coming from the area of the IC pump (passenger side front).

noise that i heard was a high pitched whine. it almost cycled (not constant) which was why they thought it was something to do with the fan belt. When you get down on all fours in the front of the car passenger side is when you can really hear it. Dealership said that it wasnt until they removed the belly pan from the car they knew where the noise was coming from. However they are now looking at the tranmission due to my intermittent power loose that i have been experiencing, rough shifting (automatic) and no power at all.

5 mintues......just got a phone call and the car is ready....so they say. supposedly they replaced the auxillary or perhaps it is the Intercooler pump and then the transmission guy took the car out for a drive and said everything was good with the trani. keep your fingers x that it was the IC/auxillary pump that was the issue and it has corrected my sluggish performance.........i'm sooooooooo excited to get my baby girl back. please god let it be its normal quick self again. I dont want to get wasted at a stop light by a NEON ever again.
