The reason I posted this thread is because I have had some issues lately. I do not know if the cold weather is causing the problems as the temperture here is around 11 degrees.

When I am on the highway driving normal you will notice the car jerk real quick for a second and when you hit the pedal to accelerate the car almost seems like it is stuck in gear (reving up slow) or the supercharger is not kicking in...then when you wait a little the car will act normal and accelerate with no issues.

Not sure if this sounds like a clutch problem...or if there is a leak... Do you think it is due to the cold weather or should I take it to the dealer to get checked out?

Many thanks in advance!"

I do not have a check engine light and it is cold as hell in Boston...I do not see how the SC could be really hot...since this occurs as soon as I get on the highway with only 5 minutes driving...

How good are the Chrysler dealerships or should I go to a mercedes?
mine behaved the same way when the IC pump failed. With your car having 30K miles, you might as well get it checked out before the warranty goes out and you have to incur the cost yourself.

good luck...

My car has about the same mileage as yours. It is in the chrysler dealership getting a new suprecharger.I took it in last friday. They also ordered the intercooler, but im not sure if they are installing that.I would definetly take it to the dealer to have them check it out.

Exactly the problem i had. Replacing the IC pump and the temp sensor did the trick. Good luck.

So your dealer got both a supercharger and a cooling pump and will install the pump if the SC does not correct the problem? Has your dealer definitely confirmed that your SC is bad? Seems like your dealer is going about this very oddly.

I was thinking the same thing...maybe they'll give you that bad supercharger

I took mine in for the same problems: no acceleration, and lurching at or above 70 mph. Turned out to be a bad clutch in the supercharger, and they replaced the entire supercharger under warranty (which was like $6k btw). After 31 days I received my car. Yippeee! Now i just need my license to drive the car, lolol. . But that's another story. .

Just dropped my SRT6 off at the dealer today for the same problem (Supercharger disengaging once the engine gets up to operating temperature). They were very impressed with my knowledge of the car's systems (all derived from this thread). The Crossfire Tech rode with me and the car did exactly as I described that it would. He took my word for the diagnosis and my pump will be here in a few days and they have already replaced the temp sensor. Should be back in it by this weekend. I'll keep everyone posted. Now I just have to get around to installing my new ASP Pulley kit.

I think the dealer replaced the S/C ,thinking it had the bad clutch problem.I had told them about the intercooler problems so he ordered that also.I then had to wait a few days for the temp sensor. That seemed to fix the problem ,as the car is running good now.I dont know how they comfirmed that the S/C was bad or if they were guessing.Glad I still had the warranty. And glad I bought the Chrysler extended warranty.

Just got my Crossfire back Friday--The dealership here in Winter Haven changed out the I/C pump, and the Temp Sensor--Went to Tampa yesterday, vehicle didn't miss a beat-Good to have the power back again--In past forms from 2005, seems this is a problem with most of the SRT's

My dealer replaced my supercharger assembly last May. The techs tested the clutch and found it bad. They did not replace the temp sensor or IC pump. My service manager also mentioned that the supercharger assy was about $6500 dollars.

you know...today this very thing happened to me, and my ESP light kicked on for a few seconds...and sure enough, my engine responded...I have had my TSP light on even after I took it to the dealer for an oil change last week and pointed out the TSP issue. I could have a leak in one of my tires, and will need to have it checked out....

I just got the Xfire back tonight. Tested for a faulty IC pump and replaced it immediately. My car still acts the same though, but I think what its doing is normal. Off the line my car is great, accelerates very quickly through all the gears no problem. But say Im going about 40-50 mph and im on a straight road gliding, (with my foot off the throttle) now is it normal for the car to hesitate slightly when I step on it hard? The rpm's will go up and it launches me and it has no problem accelerating 100mph+. I have the Sprintbooster installed and it seems to work great so I figured that has nothing to do with it. I guess this is normal with automatics?

Thanks

-Nick

Just to add:

5135368-AC - PUMP WATER

This is the part they replaced. Is this correct?

Every car I've ever owned including my current daily driver F150 had/has a standard transmission. This is the first auto I'v ever owned. I have noticed the very same thing happening when trying to accelerate hard. I've finally figured out how to make the car do what I want it to do (most of the time). If you are cruising and then suddenly punch it, the car will not shift down unless you hit the switch on the floor. However, a lot of this has to do with the adaptive nature of the computer. If you normally do not accelerate hard or put around, then suddenly punch it, the car will think, "Oh, he doesn't really want to accelerate like a race car, so I'll just keep it in this lower gear..." I ocassionally have to fix this issue by performing the throttle/trans reset procedure. Once I do that, the car will down shift and hold the revs to redline before shifting. If you don't want to go through the reset all the time, either drive hard all the time, or do the easy thing, down shift it manually, then punch it! If you do that and the car still accelerates like a dog, well, then there might be a SC problem. I originally thought it was my pump, but after a good warming and many hard launches, no problems. Automatics are tempermental, and ours are very adaptive and intelligent. The trick is to out smart the car!

I have no doubt that many SRTs have the SC problem or will eventually have it, but some people not used to our transmission may think they have a problem, when they really don't.

Cheers.

See I thought the Sprintbooster would cure that issue, but I guess it serves another purpose. Overall I think your right just getting used to how the car runs seems to be the best bet. Having an insight on a manual trans would help, although im on the other end of the spectrum. Ive only have autos in my past but nothing as powerful as this car.

This is the same part number on the pump-{5135368AC}, that they replaced to fix my faulty IC. They also put in a new Sensors-Temperature-5080343AA. Had the vehicle fixed 2 weeks ago, the new pump took care of the problem and if you have the problem I had, you'll know.

Hello,

does the sprintbooster helps to make a easier downshift, or do you regardless have to activate the kick-down switch?

Kind Regards
Bruno

The transmission will adapt to your driving style. If you putt around, you'll have to mash the gas pedal to the floor to get it to downshift. If you usually accelerate more aggressively, the car will downshif as soon as it detects aggressive throttling.

Manually shift it exclusively for 200 miles of mixed driving and you'll find that the automatic shifts in D should mirror you pretty closely. I also have a manumatic Sebring Ltd Conv with similar adaptive logic and found that trained the TCU pretty well to my driving style. It's not going to compensate for a mechanical issue but it does make things more agreeable. The only TCU training headache I've found in my short SRT ownership is that it initially defaults back to "D" too quickly. That too seems to improve with training though I do wish they incorporated a separate manual mode in the shift gate like most of the manumatics. Even the Sebring with all of it's 200hp has a separate manual mode.
