new to the crossfire world
ok i just ordered a lease on a black srt6. i haven't gotten it yet but i have a couple questions. i own a camaro z28 so this car is going to be a little different. first this is with the traction and stability control can i still to brake torques and doughnuts? is there any company that makes a pulley kit for the supercharger if so what's there website. i can't do a exhaust or anything because its a lease but with a pulley i could just switch the new one out at the end with the stock one. and what kind of cars can i race and still beat? camaros, mustangs, trans am, corvettes stuff like that.
Re: new to the crossfire world
I just drove an SRT-6 yesterday and have a load of friends (yes, multiple people I know have them) with them so I think I can help out...
there is a traction control switch in front of the shift lever on the lower dash. Press it and start brake torque-ing away... it creates a nice cloud in a hurry. Just be prepared to pay about $550 for sets of rear tires after tax and mounting since this model can blow through a set fast. The one I drove yesterday had the all season tires on it and it would start spinning the back tires like nothing even with the traction control ON. The traction control would just cut in then let you get going after. I told my friend (the owner) that they need to start issuing ticket books with traffic violations in advance on these... not sure about doughnuts though.
As for the pulley you would have to pay $3k for a pulley and chip from Renntech. Word on the street is that the engine is underrated by almost 20 HP since it was rated as 349 HP in the Mercedes it occupied prior to the creation of the SRT-6 and it may have been intentionally listed below its true output to avoid issues with AMG owners.
I have to ask this though-how does an 18 yr old (according to what the forum shows) get a lease on an SRT-6?
Once broken in you should get around a 5 flat 0-60 and 13.5 1/4 mile if not a little better. Biggest thing will be practice on launching the car which will come over time. Car and Driver has tested one at 4.8 0-60 and 13.4 1/4 but driver and every car makes a difference.

Re: new to the crossfire world
yes i'm 18 that's not a misprint. yeah well as most of you know that the dealerships have been having a hard time selling them. so my dad has been wanting me to sell my camaro z28. so this offer cam up for him. that i could lease a brand new srt6 my choose of colors. black of course. but the lease is for 6 months and its $350 a month. and that includes insurance, free oil changes, free tires (that's why i wanted to know about the burnouts. lol). i still have to pay for every thing i'm not getting the lease for free. i haven't gotten the car yet but i hope to in a week or two. yeah i think i'm going to be the youngest kind with a srt6 ever lol. it will be nice to go from a $9,000 camaro to a almost $50,000 crossfire. but the thing i'm pissed about is thats its a auto but i should get used to driving an auto. lol
Re: new to the crossfire world
Its a heck of a deal, that's for sure. I am assuming your dad works for the company? I didn't see that in your post and was not sure if the same deals being offered to employees are the ones being offered to the public right now... if it's through the company have your dad read all the documents about the program again since I think the user is responsible for tires coming back with legal tread depth and matching the exact size and brand that it was delivered with.
My friend at work got an SRT-6 last week to replace his '04 Mustang GT. He is also adapting to now having an auto and is in his early 20's and has been asked by a few people at gas stations if it was his car since people know how expensive it is. He loves the car and is amazed by its performance.
I work for the company and am waiting on a base model roadster. Wife declined SRT since you couldn't get one as a convertible (all were taken the first morning they were available) and said she would rather have a convertible as a 3rd car than another hardtop with more power. My daily driver right now is no slouch (Audi A6 twin turbo) so she figured the convertible was the better option.
Have fun.

i'm 24 and i own an 2005 srt6 so i know how ya feel by the people thinking it's my parents car, but its all mine.
i was embarrassed this weekend when i pulled up to a little ice cream shop in my $47k ride and had no cash for ice cream and only to find out they don't take cards...i had to dig thru my golf bag to find enough change for the kid.

Re: new to the crossfire world
I may have some answers. Check my sig for my current rides!! You will love the auto in the xf. It is very adaptive and I actually prefer it over the 6 speed I had in my old TA. My current TA has an auto and shifts way to quickly if you are not really pressing on the throttle. New cars act like they have some magic torque converter in them. The SRT-6 performance is amazing. It seems to pull harder than my TA although the TA turns in 13.5 1/4's all day long. However it doesn't zip 0-60 in 5 flat. So the SRT-6 is certainly quicker off the line. The SRT-6 in my opinion would be quicker than the TA in the 1/8 mile with the TA catching up before the end of the 1/4 mi, and then continuing to pull away from the SRT-6 at that point. Any other questions, just ask!!!
Re: new to the crossfire world
yeah i know people are going to make fun of me by saying oh your daddy let you take his car out tonight and sh*t like that. but what ever i'll know that they are just jealous that they don't have one. i thought that people were running like 13 flat and stuff like that not a 13.5's?. yeah my dad works for daimler chrysler.

Re: new to the crossfire world
also with the auto you can still shift through the gears. say if you just leave it in first and floor it will it stay in 1st or automatically shift when the rpms get to high. because i have driven cars that do both. shift automatically and ones that stay at redline till you shift them?
Re: new to the crossfire world
Man, I stayed up all night 3/31 waiting to order a blue roadster srt6 and couldn't do it, those of you that work for the company know what I mean. By the time I could I had to settle for a Aero Blue SRT6 Coupe. Haven't gotten it yet, should be in this week. Can't wait!

I'm still waiting for mine, finally looks like the title is at Lapeer - so got the fingers crossed that I will get a call next week. Then we just have to wait for the wife's SRT6 to come in (she actually asked me if we could possibly keep it for longer then 1 yr, I said we'll have to see if they allow us).
Good luck and enjoy it...!
Re: new to the crossfire world
That's pretty cool you've got his and hers. I've been trying to figure out the shipping system in regards to our orders. All Xfires were stored in Baltimore some as old as Jan '04. Mine was built July '04. All of them are being shipped on commercial long haul trucks to Lapeer. Non-Srt's seem to take 8-10 days from your KZ date. Srt's on the other hand are around 8-14 days. Don't know why, maybe mechanical?
Re: new to the crossfire world
I also waited up all night waiting on the SRT6 roadster. Then, I checked the system every 45-60 mins. the next day waiting for the them to hit. Then, when I checked back at 9:15 am and they were all spoken for. Bummer. I just order the SRT6 coupe instead. I live in St. Louis, so I wonder how long it will before I get it.
Re: new to the crossfire world
That's funny, we were **** and stayed up all night. My wife thought I was crazy! Well get this, not only did I stay up all night and wake up every hour, I went in to work because I couldn't sleep. Finally the time came at 10 am for me to order my Aero Blue Crossfire SRT Roadster and the company ordering system said, " You are not eligible to order a 2nd lease car. What!!! I couldn't believe. I was psyched all week and now when there are 24 SRT Roadsters left, it's telling me I can't order. Let's just say, I was in a bad mood for the rest of the weekend. I took a half day that Monday and did the stupid required paperwork and waited until the next batch of Roadsters to come out and guess what they did on that Weds. Another I think 10 roadsters were available, but as always company cars tells me that I now must wait an additional 3 business days for the paperwork to be approved. Wow! Anyway, I least I was able to get my hands on my 2nd choice. Hopefully you'll get yours soon.
