Default Lowering the SRT6

Does anyone know whether the SRT6 can be lowered with H&R or Eibach without affecting the function and performance of the different suspension setup? I have searched the forum but come up empty. Thanks for any advice or suggestions you might have.

The stock SRT springs are some 40 or 50% stiffer than a "normal" XF. Eibachs would barely compensate for that -- try searching for SLK32 suspension parts and see if you get a hit --

Good luck

SRT-6 springs are stiffer but for height eibachs should still work! Should ride be better! But shocks are also stiffer! So what would it feel like? Try it and see.

Thanks, guys. After owning both models, I honestly do not find the SRT ride much rougher than the coupe's, no matter what the magazines may say. Thus, my goal is not comfort but aesthetics--to fill the wheel wells better and lower the car like some of the exotics which also perform like banshees, at least on flat pavement. I will check the SLK32 forum pages and see what I can find and will report back with any success. Any other suggestions are welcome too. Thanks again.

I have a different experience on the ride quality. If the road is smooth, the difference is negligible. On semi-rough roads, the difference is only slightly stiffer. On rough roads...watch out! It'll knock your teeth out! Ok, not that bad, but it will vibrate your voice on rough roads it's so stiff. Many a passenger has commented on the stiffness. Luckily in Phoenix, our roads are always in pretty good shape, so I don't have to worry about the ride quality too much. To be quite honest, I like the stiff ride. It gives me a confidence that a mushy ride cannot deliver.

I have to agree, the back end of all Crossfire's look too "jacked up". For me, I would be interested in lowering just the back by about one inch.

I think we all have seen how good looking the Crossfire is when it is lowered, the prime example is Andrew's Alabaster Coupe. Sweet. He has lowered the front and back, but for me just the back would give an equally nice look and keep the car from getting too low to the ground.

Let us know what you find out!

i wonder if you could just change the factory spring pad for the needed lowering in the rear.

Well, I searched through the SLK32 (R170) pages in the MBWorld and BenzWorld forums without much success. The Eibach pro-kit "applications" page doesn't say it is only for the regular Crossfire, but that must be the case given the differences between the SRT and non-SRT suspension setups. The Kleeman "sport suspension system" package may or may not be available for the R170 body (different internal web pages give different results) but does not seem to be intended for the AMG version (the donor DNA for the SRT6). Ditto for the Startech (Brabus for Chrysler), Carlsson and Lorinser pages. Tire Rack does have H&R Sport Springs (not the full Cup kit, as I understand it) for the SRT6 that it claims will lower both the front and the back by one inch. Has anyone had any experience with these springs? That's the report for now. Thanks.
