Default Bosch 1100 no codes

Have a 2005 roadster, BAS light on, cruise not working and rear spoiler up. Changed battery last month. Bought Bosch 1100 ODB reader and it says no codes, what is wrong?

Wheel speed sensor issue (not sure that sets a code the '1100 sees) or maybe traction control relay on the RCM has failed (again, not sure that sets a code).

The fact you are driving the car in Ohio in winter tells me salt/corrosion is a suspect. Do either my mod or James' mod (it will cost you around $20 and an hour of your time) and drive the car maybe three times, see if it clears. If so, you had a ground return issue somewhere.

Thanks, one other thing that has happened for quite a long time is that the fan for the AC/heater changes speed frequently, also see a dimming in the headlights when they are on too.

Like I was saying (I mean, erratic fan speed is usually the "Blower motor resistor", but the headlights are another symptom of 'bad B+").

It is possible the BAS light on and cruise control not working is due to a faulty brake light switch if your car is an automatic. I am not familiar with the Bosch 1100 code reader, did you read codes for a Crossfire or a 2004 SLK320?

I have replaced the brake light switch a few months ago and the brake lights are working. Possible that the module is loose in the housing.

The reader did ask model specifics, still no code.

New cable attached, hard to believe that it took a 40 inch cable, drove it once. Will get a chance to drive a few times today.

Pizzaguy, new grounding cable helped out with smoother shifting, but lights still on and cruise not working, drove several times. Will a loose wheel speed sensor trigger this? Had some snow up here and a smaller drift got under the front wheels. Thanks for the help.
