Default windshield trim

Just wondering, has anyone had their windshield replaced ( roadster) without having to replace the windshield trim with new. I'm finding the price of a new windshield not that bad, but, the cost of replacement OEM trim is another matter.

I’ve had my windshield replaced 3x never a problem with the trim
the tech removes all three pieces, windshield is replaced and the trim goes back on.

why are they telling you that the trim needs replacement. That would make it a really expensive windshield change out

The reason they're telling me they need to replace the trim? - $284 for a Pilkington replacement windshield, (not that bad) $434 for new OEM trim. (Glass America). Nothing I need to do immediately just checking out prices.

Does your vehicle have existing trim around windshield?

what is the reason given to replace the trim? If your handy and going to get this done, I would strong suggest you remove the 3 piece of windshield trim before you take it to the glass shop.

Always keep in mind, no one cares about your car as much as you do.

good luck

You are more likely to need the rubber windshield molding at the bottom changed, not the trim.

Really wasn't buying the trim replacement story, never had to do it with other cars. Since I am relatively new to the Xfire just thought I ask what others had found. Now, if they had told me all the tires had to be rotated first, that I would have bought.

I suggest finding a reputable/experienced glass tech/shop. I believe that the upper trim piece is prone to go "missing in action" if not reinstalled properly/securely and it may be hard to find a replacement.

Had mine replaced at Safelite a couple years ago. I asked that they use new double stick tape and also carefully examined the alignment. One piece was a little off and they adjusted it no problem. It has been fine since then.

That glass shop trying to rip you off because you're an old man. The window trim pieces can remove safely without having to be replaced.

Hey! Less of the old man, I prefer vintage. 😉

Two shots of Pfizer, it's good to be old. The more I think about it the less interested I am in replacing the windshield until it is absolutely positively necessary. Doesn't leak, trim stays in place during quick sprints into the 3 digit + speed zones. Think I can live with a few scratches for the time being..
