Default Moving from New Member thread - IT LIVES!!!

So my original thread started with the nightmare of awakening my 2005 Roadster from its hibernation of the past 5 years. The drama is all there.. the good news is now below..

1. Stepson and I were able to determine the Alternator had a bad solenoid and replaced it and the car is maintaining charge and no overwhelming current draw on any of the circuits! YAY!
2. We did find out that someone somewhere REMOVED the PowerSeat Module, yes pulled the dash off and it was simply .... nonexistent.
3. Several base fuses replaced and several systems return to normal.
4. A full clean of the engine bay,

After test after test, the car is MOBILE AND MOVING!! No battery collapsing or power drains that we can find at this moment.

The remaining issues are
  • No High beams (we think we have determined it it the Arm / switch as we did manage to get them to activate after a slip of the hand and a "hard" hit but the flash module worked briefly however they will not switch on, so we thing a full replacement there will solve that.
  • No Radio (possibly an internal fuse as all the other fuses have been tested and checked, but once more we know things are all tied into other systems in Mercedes)
  • Dome Light Assembly ( Left side light sometimes works sometimes doesn't) The unit is good but if someone has tips on cleaning . fixing ) it is the contacts that are not staying connected there.
  • Door Locks (Will not engage in drive mode , I have not had time to research this yet)
  • Door sensors (tied in with the dome light, sometimes the dome light will recognize the door is closed and shut down the light, other times it will not.
  • Some dash pieces have been damaged by some of these "technicians" over time, so I need a Left Drive Knee Bolster / Dash Steering Column Trim, and whatever the trim is above the bolster.
  • Both of the front billet grills as some **** stole them back in Baltimore.
After all that ... LOL ... Maybe some tweaking???
But its running and we seem to be making progress and this does mean that I have plans to keep for Tail of the Dragon! YAY!

Any insider tips etc on some of these current issues or directions to threads I may not have yet found are always appreciated.. thanks goes out to @pizzaguy and the others in the previous thread for the suggestions.

After some time, (years ago) our '05 Roadster left dome light was "acting up". My inspection revealed poor contact points. Don't remember exactly how, but I adjusted those contacts & that problem was solved. Hope this helps.

You may want to inspect the trunk "basement" (very bottom, under the cover) for evidence of water leak/damage to the central locking pump.

@lovecross I did fix the contacts and we seem to be okay , it has been a bit.. "sensitive" I have not yet gotten to pulling out the trunk stuff and checking the locking pump.. but before i get through that work.. wouldn't that also affect the keyfob and remote locking the doors?

While I have not experienced (yet) any central locking pump problem, there is some history of water leaks causing damage when allowed to enter/accumulate in the trunk "basement" where this component lives. We have an N/A Roadster and had the very common failure of the rear window glass adhesion to the top material, since replaced. (Chrysler special warranty replaced entire roof tops, but only for a select group of owners, based upon the State of original sale...sucked for the rest of us). Coupes were also subject to water trunk leaks due to failure at the spoiler sealing points, (I believe). Several years ago, my inspection showed no sign of water intrusion @ the central locking pump, (it never rains in so-cal, but sometimes it pours) I followed a tip on drilling a couple of drain holes, near the locking pump & 1 in the fender well, where some have reported water leaking past the fuel filler, (as a precaution).
Much has been written here about the central locking pump, which has both a pneumatic & electrical component, ( & I believe the locking of the doors/trunk are affected).
Plz post about your progress & good luck.
