2-tone interior: Crossfire VS R170
2-tone interior: Crossfire VS R170
I just noticed that the 2-tone beige interior on the R170 came with 2 plastic panels in the lighter tone that are left black in the Crossfire...
1) The "surface" panel in front of the instrument binacle
2) The panel at the same level as the instrument faces which occupies the space around the instruments.
In addition there is one more plastic piece which remains black on both cars that would be possible to re-paint...
1) The "round surround" plastic which sets each of the 3-dials inside their own tunnel.
I like the look of the R170 better this way, and for sure would like to paint those 2 panels on my Crossfire in Cool Vanilla also. That means spending $30 or so for a can or two of spray paint by one of the several companies who advertise this product on EBAY. Does anyone have a recommendation for me that you've bought from in the past to have an interior paint "match" made for one of your cars? Also what do you guys think about painting that 3rd panel? Would that make it too monotone? Probably so right? I think Mercedes knew best with the R170.

Here's the link to the sale of the R170 I posted pictures of: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...benz-slk320-2/
Re: 2-tone interior: Crossfire VS R170
A SUPER-PRISTINE original-owner 24K mile SLK32 AMG sold 2 days ago for $18,500 -- just showing that "nearly new" cars do receive top dollar. It seems like a repeat of the way many of these 'unicorns' end up for sale... the owner either dies or decides the responsible thing to do is "clean house."

Re: 2-tone interior: Crossfire VS R170
Just goes to show anyone what a bargain our SRT6 can be. Recently a few SRT6 with very low miles have become available. I bought mine a year ago with under 7,000 miles with many very nice mods and all the OEM stuff as well, for less than what these have sold for.

this combo looks great. A question to all of you Crossfire roadsters with tuxedo interiors, I’ve always wondered how you keep them clean
My previous vehicle was a German crossover with white leather and it was almost impossible to keep the leather looking clean
how do you guys do it it does it become a case of don’t look to closely

But yes, to really keep light-colored leather looking clean you have to remove the dingy dirt (grime?) that all cars actually get over the years but that you don't notice on black and other darker colors. You'll HAVE TO USE A BRUSH to get dirt out of crevices you can't even notice with the human eye. Using a cloth won't remove the dirt from those areas. Try sometime on light leather, cleaning 1 area with a cloth and another with a brush and notice the stark contrast.
