My Second Crossfire - My 6 Speed Roadster
Re: My Second Crossfire - My 6 Speed Roadster
Hooked up my Midland GMRS 2 way radio
Trying this new mounting location
This radio has a "flip" feature for the LED display
We use these radios to communicate between Crossfires while out on our group runs
Heading to Eureka Springs, Arkansas in 2 weeks to join 28 more Crossfires for our annual summer event

Re: My Second Crossfire - My 6 Speed Roadster
My hood strut hydraulic fluid leaked out and it became unable to support the hood when opened
With some research and some reviews on Amazon I ordered this one
There are many that are said to work including just changing the internal hydraulic part without the plastic sleeve
I preferred replacing the entire strut
This one was said to fit our Crossfire on Amazon and has the full vertical hood extension function

Re: My Second Crossfire - My 6 Speed Roadster
That is also an option for replacing your hood strut for less money but it is aftermarket branded
I was aware of this when I placed my order and after I took mine apart after I replaced the entire assembly it looks like this
You can order just the hydraulic cartridge and attach the 2 ends and your current plastic sleeve to this

When I raise the hood for more than a minute or so I always raise it to the near vertical position, as this takes the load off the cylinder and should prolong its life and save some of my money.

Re: My Second Crossfire - My 6 Speed Roadster
Winter Storage is now possible for all 3 vehicles in my heated garage.
I'm not storing it yet but it has its place now.
I sold my Motorcycle in the Spring and now have room for my Roadster in the garage with our other 2 vehicles.
NOTE: the 2X4's are NOT under the wheels

And also another strip that lets you know when the daily driver is back far enough. Pretty ingenuous!!

Re: My Second Crossfire - My 6 Speed Roadster
A couple weeks ago at our Crossfire fun in the Ozarks event we had a "Tech Day"
I had my idler pulley and serpentine belt replaced.
I also had a fan mod installed which is a toggle switch that you can use to manually turn on the cooling fan to run at top speed.
This is for extra cooing of the engine temp while sitting in traffic or parked with the AC on on a hot day.
I also had my new Alpine stereo installed and now wired directly to the existing stock amp to provide the full 4 channel sound our cars are capable of.
The stock stereo and the harness only use 2 channels and even if you install a replacement stereo if you simply use the existing harness you are still only using 2 channels of a 4 channel amp.
Using all 4 channels of the amp provides a much higher quality sound from all the speakers and allows the sub woofers behind the seats to be adjusted independently to provide much more output.
I have a Roadster and I can here the music fine on the highway with the top down now !!
I highly recommend this particular stereo too
