Default Removing Console...Roadster Automatic Trans

I have read the list of repairs and decided today is the day to replace the pesky cup holder with an OEM bin (part #1BQ12XDVAA). As I reviewed the PDF on how to do it, I noticed the images/directions are for a manual shift. My 05 Roadster Limited is an automatic. Does anyone have any suggestions that supplement the PDF... which is for the manual transmission. I am worried about messing up the plate around the shift lever. Also, do I need to remove the shift ****? Thanks, Jim

Get advice on disconnecting the air lock line! Did the wife's roadster.. no slack to work with.. did it by "feel" for the torx screws.. Haven't done mine basically for that reason .. LOL

I read the warnings bout the air line in the PDF. It's the fact that the gearshift surround has more do-dads than the manual. Does the plate surrounding the shift lever just pry loose like with the manual? If so, I'm willing to tackle the task. Heck, I tried to unscrew the shift **** and it didn't budge! Thanks.

You don't unscrew the ****, you unscrew the tapered sleeve just below the ****, then just pull up on the ****.
( yes, I realize I'm leaving myself wide open for jokes here )

The plate surrounds do just pry up, use an interior trim tool.
