Default Top beeps but won't go down

Just am FYI

I had an intermittent problem with a beeping sound and no movement when trying to put the top down. The windows would go down and then only the beep, no top movement. I was going to replace the switch on the top rail just above the passengers head. It can be seen, sticking up, with the top locked. I realized it could be a weak ground and tried tightening the two mounting screws. Lo and behold, they were not tight and after tightening them the top works great.

Bottom line, always check first for a loose connection causing a weak ground.

Great info !
I'll add it to my "stupid top don't work" notes.

Ditto, thanks. It is easy to skip the first (& most likely) cause, when diagnosing. Alumni; Hard Knocks State University. (undergraduate)
