Mystery wires
Mystery wires
OK so my top does not go down and my door locks do not work from the switch on the dash. I went in the trunk to look at the vacuum pump and there are 2 wires that are not connected. A red one and a gray and red one coming from the pump area. I do not see a place to connect these wires to. They have a connector on the end but I do not see a place where they go. Can someone help me? Is this why the vacuum pump is not working? Help please Crossfires are new to me so don't know all that much about them yet. Thank You

One long black plug (C2) has 4 wires one of which is a large red/green wire, another square black plug (C4) has 3 wires one of which is grey/red, a white plug with a grey latch (C1) has 5 wires and a rectangular black plug (C3) with a gray latch has 7 wires one of which is red/gray and another brown/red.
They are the only four wires with red in them. The first color is the major wire insulation color and the second color is the stripe on the insulation.
Mine is a coupe harness I think.
The wires you have on the '05 circuits does have a a brown/blue and it goes to the lift gate lock switch. 8W-61-3.
Is that a roadster wire or not??????
I cannot find a red.
The wire colors are known to be different in some cases on the car, differing from the Repair Manuals

re: Mystery wires
Are they just wires together with a connector on the end? If yes, the closest I can come is, Air Pump Relay Output, and even that is not the combination you described, they are RD/WT and Br. Look at a service manual in section 8w-80-2 it shows every connection on your car, wire pairings,an color codes, also the color of the connector itself. This is as close as I can get you. Hope this gets you to, what your looking for.

re: Mystery wires
A photo would go a long way helping solve this problem.
re: Mystery wires
How hard is this for you crossfire experts? This wire comes out of the vacuum pump harness area inside the foam. It is not all that long but I do not see a place to plug it in to anything. I will take another picture but take a look inside your trunk of your roadsters just lift up your carpet. Come on people do me a favor i do not know much about these cars only had this car a week.

I see this going to lights, hydraulic pump for the roof, or a switch that says the roof can move. I do not think it goes to the vacuum/security pump. You could try seeing what if reaches, maybe it is an added feature by someone but the striped wire makes that seem unlikely.

Re: Mystery wires
I figured it out. The wires go to the trunk light which is just sitting in the trunk. The back carpet part of my trunk is missing so I guess the light goes in that area. So now I have to figure out why my vacuum pump is not working. Can I ask what powers the vacuum pump in the car? Is this a common problem? If so what is the usual fix for the vacuum pump not working issue.

If the pump does not work then it may have been damaged by water and this damage should be visible. Replacement is then required.
