Anyone in Maryland have their convertible top replaced?
Anyone in Maryland have their convertible top replaced?
Like so many, I have run into the rear window issue with my convertible top. Maryland is not covered by the TSB and Chrysler will not cover it; I have called several times.
Has anyone in Maryland had their top replaced? I found some places online that can make replacements (although they want the old one shipped to them first) but they recommend a local shop to do the work. Does anyone have a shop they have used that does quality work? I am located about 1/2 way between Baltimore and DC.

2005 Limited Roadster with the same problem. Haven't had it done yet but I am going to have mine replaced within the next couple of weeks. Car was originally register in Florida so it is covered by the warranty. (You may want to do a forum search on Top replacement- a lot of useful info from guys who have had it done with & without the warrany) I stopped by Tate Chrysler in Glen Burnie last fall to inquire about the warranty and the replacement process and was informed that Tate sends the car out to Shoreline Awning & Trim 2511 Mountain Rd, Pasadena, MD 21122 (410) 437-4464. Several years back when the top on the Sebring needed replacing I checked out Shoreline and was very impressed with their operation. Hope this helps. BTW - check out a great crossfire club, Crossfires of Maryland (C.O.M.) on Facebook for more help.

For the sake of completeness, I wanted to follow up with this post. Per Green24u's suggestions, I looked into Shoreline Awning and Trim. They mentioned that they work on a lot of convertibles, but have not done too many Crossfires (mostly Sebrings) Shorelines orders the top from GAAH which provide a lifetime warranty on the window bond. They mentioned that it would take 2 or 3 weeks to remove the top, ship it to GAAH, have GAAH ship the new one back and then for Shoreline to install the new top. Shoreline has a building to store the car while the top is off so it is dry and secure.
I received a call Friday that the new top had arrived and should be finished installing that afternoon. The new top looks great! The canvas is softer and seems like it is a thicker weave than the original. Shoreline told me to keep the top up for a week or so to let the canvas stretch and settle into shape. So far I am very happy with the installation.

$1900 - dayum !
You can get a replacement top for @ $1000 and easily replace it yourself with simple tools and the help of a friend in about 3-4 hours by following the instructions in the service manual. You might have to buy a pop-rivet tool, other than that standard tools / drill / drill bits.
2 things to remember :
1. make sure you center the top on the rear bow. ( I'm talking within 1/64" here - there is 'supposed' to be a center mark on the new top, but I couldn't find it. )
2. you will have to 're-crimp' the 4 side insulation pieces upon re-installation as they get expanded during removal.
maxcichon and I replaced mine a couple of weeks ago.

Re: Anyone in Maryland have their convertible top replaced?
Well the top from GAAH was $1300. An extra 300 for premium canvas and a lifetime window warranty is well worth it in my opinion. I try to do as much of the work on the car as I can, but replacing a top is beyond my expertise. In researching the job I saw that most people were paying $1700 to $2000 to have the job done, so $1900 was in the standard range.

It is NOT a difficult DIY, it just requires an extra set of hands to hold the top in position while many of the procedures are performed.
The rivets are the hardest part, but a good drill and bit and a pop rivet gun ( a cheap one will do ) are all that's required.
The new rivets should come as part of the top package, and the instructions in the service manual are spot-on.
