Anyone leave their top down in the rain?
Anyone leave their top down in the rain?
Traveling down 59 with the top down when I hit one of our infamous popcorn t-storms. It went from sunshine to pouring rain in less than a mile.
Fortunately, there was a overpass right there to stop and put the top up. Still got a little wet but not too bad.
If someone were to inadvertantly leave the car out in the rain, what kind of bad things would happen to it?

Re: Anyone leave their top down in the rain?
It's happened to me. I was moving "at speed" (> 70 MPH) and didn't even get very wet.
But, I had the top down while I was whetting my whistle and a very brief t'storm went over.
Took me WEEKS to remove all of the water spots from the interior surfaces! Dash, doors etc.

Re: Anyone leave their top down in the rain?
There was someone on here who posted awhile back that he left the top down when the car was parked and he didn't know it was raining. He claims car got pretty wet and that the water got into the electronics on the trans by the shifter (auto) and he ended up having to replace the module. So, it's not something I would recommend as it was fairly expensive.

I guess if one were unlucky enough to have the wind drive the water into the dash? Oh my!
Re: Anyone leave their top down in the rain?
I had a '73 TR6 and driving with top down, windows up in the rain, I stayed dry. It seemed all the water blew over the cab. The XF has a bad habit of water running back on the side windows, then up and over into the cab. The couple times I was caught in the rain, it got drop spattered all over the seats, windscreen, inside of the windows, and generally just made a mess. I would not leave any car out in the rain to become a bath tub. And I found out cell phones don't like swimming in a console cup holder with the sunroof open during a rainstorm (different car, different story).
